Luke Burgess will do me just fine....

Luke was sent into the deep end as soon as he got off the plane with South's being ravaged by injuries and he has given us more then any of us expected he could possibly do considering he has had no time to settle in or adjust.
His first game he mainly concentrated on his defence in what was a brutal game amongst the forwards, then he seem to of concentrated a bit more on slipping the ball out in his second appearance to which he performed very good.
Then on Friday night he went about his job as he had the previous weeks but what stood out in my books was when the game went into extra time golden point when field goals are the name of the game, Luke made tremendous metres straight up the middle towards the goal posts to make it easier for his kickers.
In this extra time period he must of made 7 or 8 hit-ups and made a valuable 12 - 14 metres dragging two or three players with him followed by a quick play the ball which in it's self is valuable during this time.

Luke Burgess is coming along a hell of a lot better then we expected and he is becoming a crowd favorite like his brother........

Cheers Luke

His hit-ups are amazingly good, it takes 3 every time to bring him down and the look on his face when little Sandow kicked the winning field goal says it all.....he looks like one of the boys and is as happy as any player in the team.....he has adjusted very quickly.
In comparrison to the Bulldogs where there is in-house trouble by the looks of things, the Dog's fullback Ben Barba did a fantasic job of recovering an in goal kick and bringing it back into the field of play and not one of the players came up to him and congratulated him for his efforts....spells trouble.

problem is he wont get a game when the rabbitohs forwards come back.

With one forward going to Crusaders and 2 retiring he is every chance of keeping his position in the 17 squad even allowing for the rumour of Sika Manu (Melbourne) arriving next season.........Luke Burgess fits in very well.

How is George going Souths? His twin is a regular on the bench for the Bulls and is making great strides forward for a young prop, just wish he'd learn how to catch!!

He is coming along nicely in the Toyota Cup..There is a pretty big gap between T/Cup and the NRL but I'd say we might see him come on the bench towards the end of the year if it looks like South's missing the finals just for a bit of experience to see how he handles the rise.
To many good prospects have been lost with coaches bringing them up to early over the years and it's good to see South's nurture George along nice and easy, he will get his chance....cheers

OFF-SUBJECT......Just to add to my above comment on George making his first grade debut.
I think it stinks that if South's or should I say Russel Crowe wants to fly Mrs Burgess out to see her sons perhaps play in the same game together, the flight and all the costs in doing so goes onto the South Sydney salary cap.......what a load of rubbish that is..

I agree that stinks.
I just watched the roosters game, he had a solid game.
He had some solid games for Leeds, trouble is that was it, he never really went one better.
He also made quite a lot of mistakes for us.

Positives though, he is a big chunk of a player.
He's pretty good at getting his arms free for offloads.
Still fairly young.

If his head is in the right place, which i'm sure it is playing with his brothers down under, then theres every chance he'll develop into a top class player

Luke has only done one boof-headed thing that I have seen and I couldn't believe my eyes........
An attacking player was tackled right in front of Luke and he bent down and took the ball as if it was the last tackle (well that is what I was thinking when he did it) he got penalised for stealing the ball........he shook his head as if he was hard done by, not half as much as I was shaking mine trying to work out what the bloody hell he was thinking......LOL
