I heard this announcement on the Super League show on Sky Sports yesterday; the commentators were not overly surprised that Robbo had been asked to take over as coach of the Roosters; but I think they (myself included) were surprised at the timing of the news.
The Dragons are in a great position for the play-offs, perhaps even reaching the final itself; and then at the last second news like this come out and all of a sudden the fans & players of the Dragons are given a punch to the stomach and muttering "wtf?"
It is definitely the right move for Robbo though; coaching the Roosters is a great honour for any coach and he would have been mad to have turned it down. But I do feel sorry for the Dragons and for French RL in general - just when League was taking a significant foothold in that country, and other SL teams were beginning to take the club as a serious force, this happens.
Good luck to Robbo & Dragons, although I rather think the latter is going to need a hell of a lot more of it over the coming couple of seasons
