Interesting article

Looks like the Glazers could have to sell up soon or we could be scraping the barrels in the up and coming years

I'm just saying that a fair few 'gullible reds' that i've come across seem to have been taken in by this summer spending 'spree' and have wrongly assumed that the Glazer's are the one's who financed it.

I dont think many people are claiming the Glazers are financing it. Its more to do with the theory of the Glazers sucking up all the money we earn being somewhat disproved.

Coming years? What do you think we've been doing since the day they took over.

Yeah and it's really cost us dear hasn't it? 4 titles, 3 CL finals, 3 Carling Cups and a World Club Cup

Just because we haven't had the spending power of City and Chelsea hasn't stopped us winning things, £50m this summer alone, some clubs haven't spent that in their exsistance, you should feel fortunate we are in the position we are in, but i'm sure you'll jump ship if City start to win everything in sight!

And what exactly is wrong with that?

Learn to read mate, when have I said the Glaziers have financed anything. I don't care whether the money's from them or not as long as funds are made available for Fergie to spend. If we hadn't spent the money, you'd be wondering where all that money from gate receipts and player sales has gone. I'm not a big fan of theirs but sometimes they can't win whatever they do. The article is the same old dross rehashed and yet we still are having our most successful period in our history under their ownership. Not everything is doom and gloom like it's always being made out.

And we wouldn't have wanted that if we were a Plc?

See my above comment.

Your above comment doesn't answer it. Would you expect any different if we were a Plc?

All that has been won IN SPITE of the Glazers, not because of them you whopper. How can you not understand that the "team" is in good shape, but the "club" is an effing shambles and it will continue to be whilst the Glazers are in charge. As for your comment about jumping ship, it's know nothing 'fans' like you make me just want to give on football altogether. Don't you see that United NOT winning things and finishing outside the top 4 would be the best thing possible in terms of getting rid of the Glazers? They're in no rush to do so, because it's still a viable business, and it's still a viable business because people keep paying in and people are still paying in because the team are still winning.

I understand that you don't care where the money comes from, but surely you must care about the debt?

If the club were still a PLC then every single penny made would go on improving the team. That hasn't happened since the Glazers took over. How can anyone condone NOT spending the £80 million we received from the sale of Ronaldo? Or the fact that the majority of that money was spent on propping up their businesses back in America?

What is for certain, is that regardless of success in the Premier League and Champions League, United were still unable to cover the debt interest repayments last season. The Glazer's debt is increasing season on season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't the latest debt figures show that our debt has dropped, albeit very gradual, but its not gone up and we are able to pay it off.

Seems to be a load of drivel

Ofcourse I care about the debt, which is why I said I'm not a big fan of theirs. BUT at the same time I'm not going to let that rule my opinion of the glazers in everything they do. It's a situation which is the reality at the moment. It may change tomorrow but I've been hearing this for 6 years and I'm tired of it.

No it wouldn't mate, we'd be paying almost the same amount as we do in interest (around £43m?) as dividends to shareholders and boardmembers. It's the debt over the club and the possibility that the Glazers might default on it that we should be worried about, not necessarily the amount we pay in interest.

Incorrect. So far this summer United have simply 'spent' what they earnt over the course of last season through gate receipts, prize money, sponsorship deals, etc.

Aren't we required to do this by uefa from now on?
The point everyone is trying to make is that the glazers arent sucking all the money put of the club, like everyone makes out.

I was reading the article with an open mind until I reached the following sentence:

'What is clear to those who follow the EPL and the NFL is the Glazier family have underfund their NFL franchise, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in order to concentrate on Manchester United and establishing it as the most successful sporting franchise in the world.'

Yeah right. That they have taken a huge amount of money out of United is not a controversial claim. Nor is the fact that they have drastically reduced net spend on transfers at a time when the revenue generated by the club has increased substantially. It's laughable to suggest that they have been lavishing money on United.
