I remember Phil starting our first game under the new Santini/Jol regime, a home grown player in the team when we were chucking money about in the way we're accused to be doing now. I remember him more because he was the first Spurs player I recall being younger than me, which was a weird moment.
He was tipped as one for the future, with bags of potential, but looking at his wikipedia, every transfer he's made has been down a division, down to the southern premier at Kettering Town last season. I haven't seen any confirmation, but it appears he was/is on trial at Wrexham this season.
Does anyone know why this has happened? I read something on a Kettering Town forum saying he was overweight and disinterested (and had a lack of pace?!). Has he had a tough time with injuries, or does he have no one to blame but himself?

Yes he had injuries but I recall nothing serious. To be training with Wrexham is a massive step up from Kettering town.
Ifill had raw ability along with a level head but sometimes you have to know people to be given a chance. Sadly it's not always about ability.
I once got rejected from aldershot town on the phone because of my height despite a scout scouting me beforehand!
I also got a trial for Portsmouth (under Harry) because I spoke nicely to an agent. Whereas all the other players were rude.
Football is fickle sadly buddy sometimes it doesn't work out due to silly reasons rather than anything tangible.
