My Memorys

After a 1..1 draw in the first leg away at Anderlecht it was back to White hart lane for the second leg

mates and me were in Tottenham by 1pm on the sauce ,.. ,

Great atmosphere and everything that summed up a European night at Tottenham.. Imagine the second leg of a final at your own ground

Very tense night and it showed on the pitch, neither team wanting to make a mistake that would cost them the cup

I was in the park lane lower with my mates and if i remember rightly the police shut the bars at half time as they feared trouble if we lost.
Remember Tottenham fans steaming the bar to get drinks, police hats flying off

Well on 60 minutes the worst happened and Anderlecht took the lead. Silence hit the ground in an instance

You could see the police on their radios with ten minutes to go fearing a riot after the game ..

6 minutes to go and the ball falls at the feet of Ardiles, 2 yrds out surely he must score......... no he hits the underside of the bar and its cleared out to the wing .. our hearts sank, that was our chance

But wait the ball gets played back in Roberts stumbles through, keeps his feet and puts it past the keeper................

All hell breaks loose as we go wild and the police sigh with relief

Extra time was a blur to me to be honest , the only thing i remember is all my mates telling me they were going home as they didnt want to miss the last train home didnt know how i would get home that night but there was no way i was leaving , even if it meant a week walking home

Whistle goes and its penaltys

Now comes one of my greatest ever memorys of being a Tottenham fan

After parks saved their first penalty everyone scored till it fell to little Danny Thomas to take the kick to win the cup for the famous Tottenham hotspur ..

Penalty is saved and in our hearts we think we have lost the chance to win the cup but as Danny walked back to the half way line the whole ground sang his name .. .. i will never forget this as long as i live

he could of cost us the cup but we all knew how he was feeling and he was very well loved by Tottenham fans
The ground went quiet as Arnor Gudjohnsen stepped up to level the scores

Little did he know that Tony Parks was about to become the new hero of Tottenham as he dived to his right to palm the shot away..

It was keith Berkinshaws last game as manager and no more than he deserved

the party in the high rd went on long into the night, i remember very little of getting home except that at about 4am i jumped on a mail train and fell asleep .. got home about 7am drunk singing down the street celebrating still all on my own

To all you fans that go on about 4th place all the time , watch this video

its why we fans go to games, to dream of glory and our team winning things

i dont give a damm about the club making money, its about what we do on the pitch that matters

personally i think the europa league winners should get a CL league spot the next season, adds more value/merit to the competition

anyways good luck lads

Did you go to the first game ? Thats was a running battle with the police coming into our end with riot shields and batons. We went one up there and they equalised late.

For the home game I was on the shelf and I remember the Danny Thomas chants but what I remember most was the total momentary silence every time they scored a penalty <laugh.

Great night tho and there was something special about winning it at our own ground for sure.

Good read, sounds like a great night

While I too want the trophies, there is a balance to be struck. We won one in 2008 and lost both of our deadly strike partnership (something that probably wouldn't have happened if we'd finished in the top 4) and ended up having to write 2008/09 off completely.

Now we are in the KO stages I want to win it, but we can't afford to throw all our eggs in one basket at this stage. Anything can happen in cup football. Finishing in the CL places this season is more important long-term I'm afraid, in terms of both keeping our players and securing sponsorship/investment to ensure the NPD gets going.

Personally I'd have much preferred to have taken the domestic cups seriously than the Europa - they only have a small overlap in Jan/Feb and you could win both of those in the amount of games it takes to win the Europa.

Domestic cups = minimum 12 games (FA 6, League 6)
Europa Cup = minimum 15 games, without qualifying round

Morning Guys

Grand, no could not get out for the first game and after going to Ajax away i avoided away games for a while

Yes i was in the shelf that night as well, the silence when they scored their penaltys reminds me of the Emirates today

However, the UEFA ranking points haul has been useful (in order to avoid a possible "pot 3/4" ranking if we get a CL slot) .

Bring on the pot 3/4 ranking!! 2010/11 was great BECAUSE we drew Inter in the supposed group of death, then AC and Real.

Give me Madrid, Dortmund and Ajax rather that over possibly going out with a damp squib from a group with Shakhtar, Bordeaux and Nordeskilling (sic).
