After what I have always seen as the unfair criticism of Woods, when the free kick went in past Sully I turned to my mate and said - "Woodsie would have had that one easy." Rubbish of course, but Irresistible. So what did yesterday tell us? It's about Creativity, Contributions and Consistency. Creativity - We have a great defence without which no team, not even Barcelona, can prevail. The middle two tackle and push. Chris Brown is brilliant up front holding the ball - he is Velcro-Man. Our creative players are Cotts, Copps and Bennett. We get odd goals from moments of skill elsewhere but those three play to create chances. If they are off form we struggle. Yesterday, and for a while, none of them have played well. Cotts, without whom we would be mid-table at best, has been searching for form and yesterday nothing at all went right. Heart-breaking for such a good player. (I've given up on Bennett, and Copps has had just one outstanding match, as a second striker, since he came back.) Contributions - Paynter only scores goals. It sounds ludicrous but when he plays that is all you will get and then only sometimes. If he was getting 20+ a season it would be fine, but he isn't prolific enough to make up for his lack of contribution. I am not suggesting that he is lazy or uncommitted - he just doesn't have the energy or speed to pin back the opposition, unlike Hume. Humey doesn't score enough goals but he will cover every blade of grass. If Paynter starts next week I think Bilbo will get crossed off my Christmas list. Consistency - we don't have any. Conclusion - if we can't grind out a draw or better at Brentford next week we will deserve what we will probably then get - a home and away kicking by the Blunts.

We blew automatic promotion in 2008 Terrier, but then thrashed Southend in the Play off Semi-Final before beating Leeds at Wembley. However, this is a different set of players so who knows? - but they're experienced and have shown fight and determination this season so hopefully they will be professional and do themselves justice if it comes to that.
McCombe has done pretty well. He looked very shaky at the start of the season and I thought that he may be a weak link but he has got better and better as the season has progressed.

The folllowing site (a Yeovil one) http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=19366) suggests that there is more detail available about who will play when, but there is a complication relating to Sheffield United who might be scheduled to play on the same date as Wednesday have a match causing policing pressures.
I think there is a race meeting in Doncaster on the Saturday too, but as Rovers would be 3rd in the highly unlikely event of particaption, they would not be involved at home on either of the first 2 dates.
(I think we had to play away in the 2nd leg of he Conference Play-off because of a race meeting.)

I was wondering about that too ionly. Possibly someone from Lindley Catering - the people responsible for developing the concourses? Just a guess though. Did anyone on here attend the event?
