2013 Formula 1 Magyar Nagydij Race Thread

Ladies and Gentlemen, hello and welcome to ManUtdDaredevil’s official 2013 Formula 1 Magyar Nagydij Race Thread.

This race is generally a bore fest with minimal overtaking. With the teams testing the new tyres ahead of this race, expect massive leaps in performance for the fizzy drinks company and the prancing horse team. Hamilton won this race last year for McLaren and he’s won here thrice so expect a stunning pole lap. However expect the mercs to perform as badly as they did in Barcelona. I expect a win for the ice man with the finger finishing just behind him. Pirelli are also bringing the medium and soft race tyres for this race. So let's begin;

Circuit Name: Hungaroring
First Grand Prix: 1986

Some Facts

Did you know that, at 4.381 kilometres long, Budapest’s Hungaroring circuit is the third shortest track on the calendar after Monaco and Canada? As Hungary prepares to host the Formula 1 Magyar Nagydij 2013, we present a myriad of other interesting facts and figures about the race…

The Hungaroring, just outside Budapest, has hosted all of the 27 Formula One Grand Prix previously held on Hungarian soil.

As a circuit, the Hungaroring has changed little since the first Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986, though there was a right-left chicane between Turns 3 and 4 for the first three races.

Only one Hungarian has ever started his home Grand Prix, or indeed any other F1 Grand Prix - Zsolt Baumgartner, who drove for Jordan and Minardi in 2003/2004.

Nelson Piquet triumphed in the first Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986. He was driving a Williams FW11-Honda. The Brazilian repeated the feat the following year, this time in a Williams FW11B-Honda.

Michael Schumacher holds the record for the most Hungarian Grand Prix wins - four. Lewis Hamilton has won the race the most times of any current driver - three, a distinction he shares with the late, great Ayrton Senna.

Michael Schumacher holds two other Hungarian Grand Prix records - the most pole positions (seven) and the fastest lap (1m 19.071s, set in 2004 in a Ferrari).

Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso (once), Kimi Raikkonen (once) and Mark Webber (once) are the only current drivers other than Hamilton to have won in Hungary. Button and Alonso both scored their maiden F1 wins in Hungary (in 2006 and 2003 respectively).

I think anti stan did well there. We will all score points from Lewis getting pole. Plus being within 1% of the predicted time (apart from anfield).

Great race.

Superb from Lewis. For once he actually got some luck. Still doesnt make up for all his bad luck though.

Brilliant drive and overtaking manoeuvres. Respect to Webber and Button.

Can't wait for Spa. Hopefully it's a good battle because last years race was ruined on lap 1

Shout out to Button and Webber.

Smart strategy and good clean driving from both to pick up some good points.
