A Great Draw for the US Open

When I closely analysed the draw for this year's US Open final earlier, I was very pleased and IMO the draw could not have working out better for the tennis neutral.

If the matches go according to seeding/current form then I expect the following match ups:

Quarter Finals

Djokovic v Del Potro
Murray v Berdych
Nadal v Federer
Ferrer/Janowicz v Raonic/Gasquet

Semi Finals

Nadal v Janowicz/Ferrer/Raonic
Murray v Djokovic

Final

Nadal v Murray/Djokovic


There are some absolutely mouth watering matches there, even in the quarters. You can't get much more exciting quarters than Del Potro v Djokovic, where Del Po will be looking for revenge after his narrow loss in their classic semi final match at this year's Wimbledon, Murray v Berdych and of course, Nadal v Federer.

A semi final of Murray v Djokovic, the repeat of last year's final, is again a tantalising prospect and with a likely final of Nadal v the winner, we could have the best match until last: either its the in form Nadal v the new and improved Murray who will attempt to exorcise his demons against Rafa, or its Nadal v Djokovic, a repeat of the 2011 and 2010 US Open final and the most exciting match up on tour in my opinion.

Despite my predictions I do think there is a distinct possibility for upsets. I think if Berdych is playing well by the second week then he could possibly beat Murray.
Furthermore, again if Del Po is in good enough form come the second week, with his game and his motivation of revenge, IMO he could give Djokovic a real run for his money and could win in 4/5.

Whoever you support or believe will reach the finals, this tournament with its draw promises to throw in some incredibly high quality and competitve matches that I for one cannot wait for!
