ANOTHER MASTERCLASS BY VETTEL

bonsoir peeps

yet again another masterclass by vettel in a car that was not suited to the medium low downforce nature of spa ,
yet again the ultra intelligent german outwitted hamilton in the quicker mercedes at the start by the clever usage of a little kers going into les combes which begs the question why hamilton did not do the same ,
yet another example of vettels superior race craft coming into play that was the foundation for his unexpected win today -

the rest as we know was history ---- after todays masterclass in a red bull that was not suited to the high speed nature of spa can anything now stop the brilliant vettel from his 4th strait drivers title ?
------------ any thoughts ?

as i said why is everybody blowing webber off is the red bull is so good

----------------------------------------------------------------
Probably for several reasons.
a) the red bull was developed around Vettel's driving style
b) in far too many races Webber's Kers hasn't worked, or Red Bull (or Webber) have fecked up his starts
c) Webber isn't a Alonso or a Hamilton. He's a Barrichello/Coulthard in terms of level.
d) A retiring driver has in the past drifted away from his absolute best during that final season (more often when the driver announces his retirement so early) and yep I'm thinking of Damon Hill in particular.

WELSHY

a/ but vettel and webber have the same style so whats the difference ,

b/ ---- even when webber does not have KERS problems vettel still blows him off

c/ webber has always beat all of his team mates except vettel and that includes blowing coultard off at red bull

D/ ---- whats the excuse for the previous 4 season that vettel has blown webber off

Similar styles not the same styles. Mugs and Cups are similar in style - but if you're a mug drinker you'd maybe not feel comfortable with a cup. Especially your nan's best china

b/ ---- even when webber does not have KERS problems vettel still blows him off
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahh yes but I'm sure Webber's overall results have been hit badly by these issues.

c/ webber has always beat all of his team mates except vettel and that includes blowing coultard off at red bull
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Again Coulthard was well past his best at that stage. As Webber is now. I'd still rank them the same.

D/ ---- whats the excuse for the previous 4 season that vettel has blown webber off

Ah no you said that everyone was blowing Webber off. I think he'd shown up better against the top drivers in previous years.

I can tell that you're slightly convinced now, Martial

to be honest welshy webber has never been slow and has always been thought of as one of the quickest drivers out there so there is no logic in thinking that vettels success is all down to the red bull car and to be honest the excuses that people on here trot out against vettel are based in there own patriotic leanings towards there favourite drivers -

----- but yeh --- lets be friends --

Oh I don't think all of Vettel's success is down to his car. He's a top line driver but I don't know if he's way out there on his own - my instincts say that he's in a top trio of Alonso and Hamilton + probably Kimi too (which would make it a quartet).

I think Vettel has a very good piece of equipment tho - which you do need to be a champion. Has it been the best car at every race the past 2/3 years - no. But it's been consistantly there. He does make the difference at some races - as all greats have done + he is very much a championship driver. He knows that 2nds, 3rds and 4ths when he has to settle for them are points on the table.

Webber in all honesty I'm not sure where to rate - sometimes I think he's just behind that top bunch but then sometimes he goes missing. I do suspect this year that with his retirement he may be lacking in something.

I like you agree that last year over the course of the whole year that McLaren threw away chances for a title. That car was quick for great chunks of the year - but between the disasterous pit stops and Hamilton not always quite at the races they only helped to hand it to Vettel and Red Bull.

About 2/3s into last season though Red Bull did look the part + Vettel was immense.

This year - I think Red Bull have again shown consistancy in strength. For many races Mercedes seemed to have the raw pace in qualifying but maybe they couldn't manage the tyres in races. Lotus have had a handful of races where they could/should have won - but Vettel to his credit won races when his racecraft got him the 25 points. Ferrari - I don't think have had a good car for a couple of years but Alonso to his credit hangs in.

Red Bull - it's consistancy at every grand prix really - give such a good base for Vettel to work on + he maximises it.

Apart from an unusual chain of events I can't see anyone catching Vettel this year + 4 titles in a row puts him up amongst the F1 gods.

I think it's only after a driver has played out his career that you really understand how good a driver was - but for sure he's going to be around the top 10 now.

At this rate he's surely in with a chance on getting near to Schumacher's 7 titles.

Ye I saw he said that - but he may find that he still has the desire at that time so we shall wait and see.

I think Hamilton, Alonso and Raikkonen could all pick up further titles (probably Hamilton more so as Mercedes are well and truly moving in the right direction) - but hard to see Vettel not adding to his also.
