Korea GP Race Thread

Hi Guys, sorry I'm late with this, started a new job and still pretending to be a good boy. This is going to be different so please forgive the lack of uniqueness.

The Korean Grand Prix has been run three times previously, all at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam. It is the third newest venue on the calendar after Austin and New Delhi. It is also one of only five circuits on the calendar that is anti-clockwise in nature (the others are Singapore, Yas Marina, Austin and Sao Paulo).

The inaugural event in 2010 was won by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is the only driver apart from Alonso to have triumphed on Korean soil.

As well as winning the last two races in Yeongam, Vettel has rather amazingly led all but 12 laps in the history of the Korean Grand Prix (92.7 per cent). Those spare dozen laps were led by Alonso in 2010 and 2011.

There has been a different man on pole in each of the three previous events in Korea - Sebastian Vettel (2010), Lewis Hamilton (2011) and Mark Webber (2012).

As well as having more wins and poles in Korea than any other team, Red Bull also have more podiums (4) and more fastest laps (2).

Only Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren have ever scored Korean Grand Prix podium finishes.

The race was the same AFL. Start to finish domination and he was able to pull out fastest laps with ease.

There were 2 safety cars, a fire and a dice between Massa, Gutierrez, Maldonado and Bottas. Apart from that, it was a dull race.

It's obviously a shame when the spectacle of Formula 1 is ruined by a team reaching levels of performance that the other teams cannot reach. However, that is Formula 1. As long as I don't see another 2004, I'll be alright.

So I think MUDD takes the honours for JA606.

Looking forward to 2014. No more exshaust blown aero. I think Webber retired a year too early. As Garry Anderson pointed out "when Vettel did not have the advantage of the exhaust blowing then Webber beat him". Doesn't say much about a driver with suppossed fewer negatives than others.

"Championship over, congratulations RedBull and Vettel"

Yes.

It worries me how much extra pace is hiding in that Red Bull. The only pit radio we get to hear related to Vettel is either him celebrating a win or his team telling him to slow down lap after lap.

You are wrong n606, the pace is all in Vettel's hands. His superior intelligence makes him faster than everyone else

Notice how the team were telling him to slow down?

He set fastest lap on more than one occasion and after the race Christian Horner said, " A very disciplined drive by Seb...."

Yeah, right.

As Fangio used to say, "Win at the slowest possible speed".

He has traction control, four wheel drive and the engine from the Batmobile.

Seriously, he has the best car by a country mile but credit where it's due, he has driven the car brilliantly.

The ZDKF1 prediction results have been published and MUDD of JA scored most on 40.

I scored 27 and the other members scored 30 before their penalties.

The deadline for the next GP is 10.00pm Thursday.

"Seriously, he has the best car by a country mile but credit where it's due, he has driven the car brilliantly."

Certainly true, but then it is so much easier when you know you have a car that good.

Other drivers are more liable to error because they are driving on the limit of the machine and so are under more stress from the time the lights go off.

But the driver still has to do the job and Vettel has done.

I am suspicious that Webber has been nowhere since he announced he was leaving though....

And I don't particularly rate Webber.

The jury on Vettel is out for me until I see him under pressure again. He was far too keen on lunging into a driver capable of passing him fairly for my liking.

He may simply be only a Schumacher or Senna, rather than a true great, like Clark or Fangio.
