Ramires - Matic Duo

Now that's a fecking midfield!

As we've witnessed in the past few games, and in that away win versus Arsenal in the Capital One cup, we are a much better and more balanced side without Lampard in that makeshift role he could never fulfil, as goals from the edge of the box aside, he doesn't offer much in all the other aspects.

But now with the, I presume imminent, addition of Matic we can finally have a proper midfield duo to be proud of. I like Mikel but Mourinho doesn't seem that keen on him playing week in week out.

--------Matic - Ramires------
------------------------------------
--Willian-----Oscar-----Hazard

That's a pretty frightening line up in our middle of the park, especially when we take into account that we have Mata, Schurrle, Mikel and Lampard (as long as we play him in the right circumstance, behind the striker in a 4-3-3 every now and then or as a sub mostly) on their toes vying for a shirt.

We may well find having a proper DM in the side (although I think some are a little harsh on Mikel despite Matic being a clear upgrade) will allow Luiz to revert to centre and flourish.

Lampard has put in some very good performances in midfield this season. He has more or less adapted to that role. He doesn't advance forward as much as he used to do. I would say we see Ramires in the opposition box more then Lampard when both are paired together.

I think Cahill has benefited individually more than any player defensively from and overall defensive performance as a unit, he looks much more assured as part of a well drilled Mourinho team. I’ve always thought he has great attributes but ultimately is too easy to get past, in many ways he’s the complete opposite of Lescott. If Luiz can flourish in a similar way and add that protection and competitiveness, not to mention aerial advantage of Matic then we will have a team which is very hard to beat and well balanced. The flair we then have ahead makes for an expecting team.

Ramires-Matic
Willian-Oscar-Hazard

This has everything. Pace, energy, strength, creativity. Jose has to make it work

Matic is being overrated as he has not yet played in Premiership. It is not certain that he will be a hit instantly and as he plays in Portugal I have never seen him play for Chelsea.
