The Posh V The Cumbrians

Peterborough host Carlisle at London Road on Easter Monday.

The Cumbrians are in a relegation position, so will be fighting for their lives. Will Posh be up for it? I hope so, because we have less than convincing and not truly up for games recently.

Up for grabs is that fourth play-off place.

We don't really deserve to go up this season but the play off games are always exciting, so I'd be delighted if we ended up playing Leyton Orient in the Semis and not disappointed if we lost over the two legs. The danger, though, of not winning promotion would be the loss of a number of players, including probably Assombalonga.

Let's therefore deservedly beat Carlisle, Shrewsbury and Port Vale, and then earn a play-off final place.

UTP!

As a Posh supporter for many years, I would love to see them get in and win the play-offs to the Championship, yet again. It will certainly be a harder task this time, but not an impossible one. The teams already in the play-offs will be nervous and not relish a meeting with Posh, who if they play as well as they can and should, will be hard to beat. All I hope is that if Posh do manage promotion, they will give a better account of themselves than they did last time. A steady mid-table position would be fine with me.

A four point lead with three games to go should be enough for you to get 6th place. If you beat Carlisle you can be confident, whatever we do. I'm just glad that our final games are still important. I really never thought we'd be in 7th place at this point. I'm encouraged for next season, providing we hang on to our young talent.

Thanks to you both for your comments. Wins tomorrow all round would be nice.

My friend is annoyed that Posh are not now already promoted to the Championship with Wolverhampton. Instead, Posh might not even be in the play-offs and will have to spend yet another season wallowing in League One. Who do we blame for this farcically nail biting end to the season, the manager or the players themselves? My wife has a little sympathy for Darren Ferguson saying that I should remember the old saying, you can't make silk purses out of sow's ears. Who was responsible for signing them in the first place?

Fergie has to take part of the blame but the players most of it. I don't think the players that Fergie ended up signing were his first choices. I wish they'd shoot on sight a bit more - like Tommy Rowe did recently against Gillingham. I also wish they'd start games better - could that be Fergie's fault?

P.S. Also, the players are responsible for the sloppy passing that has gifted our opponents goals. Hopefully, that will not be repeated today.

C'mon the Posh - a 3-0 win today should be possible.

A quality display and win. Just, as well, as Swindon also won. Next up, a win at Shrewsbury away to secure that sixth place.

Good also to see super-sub, Mendez-Laing, back in action - the type of player who could fire us back into the Championship.
