Way hay! SL Team is here!!!

Now...I know Eng v SL is not popular compared to Ashes or even Eng v India.
But I thinnk this SL tour is important on two accounts...

For SL - It's the new generation after Murali/Sanath/Vas era. Youngsters are putting thier hand up & doing thier level best to be seen!!! Exciting!

For England - to show that thier Ashes win is not just a one off! They are wanting to show that they can sustain that good performance.

In any case, lets hope there will be great cricket by both teams & the weather will hold!

Comon Sri Lanka!!!

+1

The Sri Lankan batting is strong - stronger than Australia at the moment. With Mendis bowling trash, I'm somewhat apprehensive about their bowling though.

Welcome Pandithaya.

I think we are big favourites mainly due to home advantage.
Looking forward to this summer's Cricket though.

the sri lankan batsmen have excellent records in asia but other than sangakarra dont everywhere else, they have alot to prove on this tour. especially dilshan and samaraweera who have played 50+ of their 60 odd tests in asia

Yup. I think the current England team would be the clear favourites at home against any side except South Africa. Would be surprised if England didn't win the series quite comfortably.

Yeah, Sanga is by far their best player of pace, though he is somewhat suspect against good spin. On the other hand, Mahela, Samaraweera and Chandimal are outstanding players of spin bowling.

This series (and the one after that against India) would be a stern examination of Swann as a spinner too. IMHO, would be a defining series in terms of how good a spin bowler Swann really is.
