Chinese Super League

Has grabbed world’s attention with transfer spree – but will anyone care watching any of their teams play?

China has stunned world football recently with a string of big-money, high-profile transfer deals.

Jose is the latest big name being courted by Chinese football as it aims to become a major player.

Mourinho was in Shanghai last month with his agent Jorge Mendes to meet with Zhang Dazhong, the chief of Alibaba’s new sports division.

London’s Evening Standard reports that a meeting took place about how to involve him in Chinese football.

He is not interested in a coaching role – China’s national team is currently without a manager – but is willing to offer his services as an advisor to help improve grassroots football in the country.

Meanwhile, current Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink revealed that he was approached to manage in China recently.

“I had some possibilities to go there in the recent past," Hiddink told reporters at his weekly press conference without expanding any further.

It seems there’s yet another competition we’ll have to pay attention to, with the Chinese Super League’s startling “my transfer fund is bigger than yours" activity this winter. Back when they were limiting themselves to the likes of washed-up with the likes of Tim Cahill. Now that they’re lumping insane amounts of money at players still in their peak and in demand by top European clubs it looks like we’re going to have to start paying attention.

I have my doubts whether they'll be able to sustain this for long term. One, thing is for sure though, they seem to be loaded.
