I watched the Russia vs Ireland match today and saw Arshavin playing in his favored number 10 free role. He was absolutely immense, I know the score finished 0-0 but Russia had 26 shots on goal and had about 7 clear cut opportunities to score, most of them created by Arshavin.
He takes so much stick from the fans but what is blatantly obvious to me and what I have been saying for a long time is that we are killing him playing him on the wings. Why can't Wenger play him where he plays best? Do we really have any better options? I know Rambo was voted man of the match tonight but lets face it he looks out of his depth at the moment especially when he is the pivotal man in a 3 man midfield.
Please Arsene stop ruining Arshavin before he is permanently broken, he has world class ability, he just isn't being allowed to show it.
On another note how serious is Theo's injury? I swear God must be a Spurs fan the amount of injuries to key players we are picking up is ridiculous!!!

If Song wasn't such a fool, he'd have been available this weekend and we could've tried a mid three with him, Frimpong and Arshavin.

Lex I reckon we could still try it with Arteta or Rambo playing alongside Frimpong. Song played alongside Frimpong in Udinese and pretty much ended up as a 2nd striker. Plus if we are going to experiment then no disrespect to Swansea but on paper there is no better team to do it against unless Wenger throws him into our CC team vs Shrewsbury!

Good article. He's so talented and wasted on the left. Teams target that side because they know Arshavin is so ineffective there. At least try him in his natural position, but Wenger carrys on with no desire for change. He has play making skills- thats why Hiddink, Russia and any other coach tend to play him centrally, this is one thing that frustrates me about Wenger, just try it.
