Which xbox one game to get for xmas??

I've had the console for a year and have only played rise of the tomb raider and battlefield one for any great length. Both were very good games in terms of solo mode, unfortunately btf1 was quality but short. Now looking at a cracking game to get for xmas - preferably action/adventure. Dead rising 4 stands out....Any recommendations? Not primarily bothered about multiplayer mode for the time being.

And I thought RoTR was my ideal game. It had it all. Great graphics and scenery too. Loved the tension when entering caves and stuff.

I'm not a fan of rpg's. I prefer freedom, not scripts. I bought elder scrolls oblivion on 360 because it was rated so highly but was disappointed. Please recommend me a non RPG game, that isn't a simple minded shoot em up.

Sounds like Farcry may be what your after or dying light

Pure action twitch based shooter than Doom

Great fun sand boxes: gta v or Just Cause 3

Then prob the game inbetween is Dishonoured 2

More indie have a look at superhot but thats just a few hours

More thinky pick up the bioshock collection

It's a shame you're on Xbone as it sounds like the Uncharted series would be right up your street.

Not sure you worded that correctly RPG's tend to have a lot more freedom and unscripted than the more linear shooters .... I loved Oblivion really loved it, however I remember watching someone playing Morrowind when it was out and thinking it was pointless and boring ..... then i got it myself and played it from scratch .... turns out it was possibly the best game Bethseda made !!

Far more lore in it compared to the rest, game had far more detail and less hand holding, you wanted to find something out you HAD to go find it out yourself....sadly this just doesnt exist in games nowadays the try to cater for the whole market and to players with no patience or common sense to figure stuff out... I remember years ago reading that Morrowind had the equivalent of about 9 full length novels of lore and info to be read in the game. Was such an open and free game and easily the least linear out of all the Elder Scroll games.

Dishonoured 2 is standing out. Looks like it's got excellent reviews. But why is it only 25 quid on Amazon and game? It was only released last month!
