Bolton Wanderers v Walsall

3rd play 11th today in what looks a must win game for Bolton. Looking at the league table Bolton despite losing the last 2 home games and on a run of 6 games in all competitions without a win are incredibly still 3rd! The top 2 looks very unlikely as 7 points behind that. Mind the gap though as Fleetwood are level with us on 51 points Fleetwood yes the mighty Fleetwood. Also Bradford are just a point behind so a 3rd straight home defeat could see Bolton drop to 5th or if Rochdale beat Fleetwood 4th but with a gap of only 2 points away from dropping out of the play off positions altogether if lose to Rochdale on Tuesday too. All if buts and maybes though. Maybe the negative thoughts coming from the realisation we are rapidly approaching Armageddon 2. Can't do anything about it apart from try to enjoy the football while we still have a club. A toughie today as Walsall unbeaten in 5. Team news. Out for the season Davies, pratley and now Wilson. Still out Howard and Buxton. Dervite is fit apparently. Big question is who plays right back? Can't see a back 3 so guess derik with Vela a possibility. Who plays on the wings out of long, Clayton, Morris, Henry Solomon and how to get Alf in the team. Personally I would go 4-2-3-1 with Vela rb, Alf behind/playing off madine and Henry and Morris on the flanks.

Match report as sorts. Not read or seen anything. Started 3-5-2. Slow start by Bolton and amazing goal by walsall. Sat behind goal and shot seemed to dip at the last micro second. Crowd on the players back mainly trotter. A bad forward pass by spearing really set the fans off. Corner and madine who was immense first half scored header. Own goal and then trotter shot similar to that goal at Sheffield made it 3-1 ht. Injury to the lineswoman meant a really looooong half time. Bolton really poor defensively 2nd half. Keeper slipped just after restart but not punished. Madine should have scored one on one with keeper. Chances missed by alf and long. Couk have been 7 or 8 today. Thought alf was poor, lacking confidence/match fitness. Morris. Why did Bradford release him? Puts a cross in and tracks back. Great signing. Long and otabor. My word they both quick. Ballance of the team good. Suits the players available. Having 2 up front made a difference. Created loads. No more madine on his own please.

4 good signings and enhanced the squad but none permanent. Morris surely sign on a free maybe Alf depending on wages. Long and otabor only on loan no chance of signing permanently. Felt Bolton were too one dimensional before the window shut. Despite Clough going seem to have more options. Henry not even on bench but he was a shoe in after ameobi left.

That was close I missed the last ten minutes and fourth goal I only got the result when I got back lucky in a way we didn't score that fifth I'd have missed the goal feast I am still waiting for.
All I'm hearing now is how did Benny know 3 across the back would work Derik played as well as we all thought he would away from RB which leads to the big question will PP go with more of the same or will he rush A Trialist through to fill the RB slot and go 4 at the back A Trialist scored yesterday again up in Scotland

A big Tuesday night of games coming up next we've got Rochdale while Scunny have Walsall Sheff U are away at Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood meet Bradford all 7.45 except us the odd one out at 8.

3 at the back worked yesterday because it got bodies further forward, more support for madine, more goals. Defensively worked yesterday but might not always. Wheater was in the middle beevers left derik right almost right back at times. Seemed to drop into a back 4 at times in the 2nd half without the ball. Helped having 2 wing backs Morris and Taylor who tracked back defensively. Interesting to see if he does the same away at Bradford and Sheffield or go back to the old formation.

Samizadeh and Navarro bagged a brace each as the U18's showed they can score 4 as well we have plenty who know where the back of the net is it's fingers crossed PP realises he can change and not drop back into his old ways with the first team.

While the messy divorce at the Macron plods along at a snails pace I understand Chairman Ken is trying to make Dean jealous by dating a new partner. Dig out your VIP i-spy books for spotting Ken out and about around town with a new love.

Will Chris Long make it for Tuesday night he picked up a hammy problem when scoring against Walsall the way we are with injuries should we run a book on who will make it 3 in a row with hamstring problems

If long is out then there's a kid in the reserves scored another 2 at the weekend. Can't quite remember his name. Alex something or other

Wilko may get the nod then since he's still trying to get full match fitness after the leg break Max could take over when he runs out of puff
