homemade ginger wine

Anyone old enough to remember their parents making this stuff?

Think my parents stopped making it in the late eighties.

Used to hit you right in the back of the throat (no Pointy, no)

I totally loved it, but for some reason we only ever had it at New Year.

I drink cairn or mohr fairly regularly. From Erroll in perthshire. Like a mixture of wine and alcoholic teas in terms of how they are made.

I try and encourage UK based cottage industry. They are doing quite well these days.

Cairn O'Mohr is alright, but not really my thing.

They do tasting nights which are good fun. Strong stuff too.

Love tastings and tours. Done cairn on mohr several years ago. Different from the Florence and a Rome tastings but nice. It's an old bottling machine from a distillery that upgraded that they use.

My brother organised for one of their team to come to his house to do a tasting night. They had about 8 flavoured bottles and had to guess which was which.

I was absolutely plastered by the end of it.

Wife agreed to buy me a copper distillation rig for my Christmas last year. But I've not went down that rabbit hole yet.
