Another Pumping Article

Firstly,

The purpose of this article is not to continue the gloating from a Rangers fan but to debate over the manner, tactics and naivety of last night's match in Paris.

The world knew before hand that Celtic would not be good enough to come out of that match with a credible performance and result, hell if i was blind and hearing unaffected and enjoyed listening to the radio, and esp football talk shows it would convince me enough to come to the conclusion that this will be a tough night for the Hoops without actually seeing any live coverage.

Football is all about opinion's and i respect everyone's point of view and i have to argue that Brendan Rodgers as a Celtic fan deserves any criticism that is coming his way.

Despite having 11 players, a respected and strong captain and a passionate away support in Paris, Brendan was their commander and chief with weeks of planning, tactical vision and realisation that the enemy was far greater equipped to dominate and destroy.

Brendan as a Celtic fan was lost in club nostalgia, past glories and current club playing philosophy.

The Brendan that i, the media and the Celtic following wanted to see was a man that was willing to change and adapt his and club ideology for this fixture and perhaps a few more.

Brendan as a Celtic fan, aught to have thought like one imo and not as a coach.

Question for the Hoops men on this site,

What should have been Celtic's approach for this game?

1) Park this bus, play aggressively and antagonise and use the long ball when appropriate, or

2) Play the expansive " Celtic Way" ?

I happen to think that Brendan's foresight was all wrong and as a fan he should have been selfish enough and realised let's try and change for this match.

Walter Smith was loved and loathed by pundits, players and managers during Rangers many European campaigns. It wasn't ok for Rangers to park the bus at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp but it was ok for the Jose Mourihno's, Carlo Ancelotti's and many other's to do it at big ground's.

Iv'e seen Rangers at home and away European tie's and we can look upon that now and possibly say that they deserved more credit.

The team of 07/08 displayed unity, understanding and remarkable organisation and defending at time's that resulted and demonstrated what kind of side we were and the capabilities we had and not had and feel Celtic under Brendan need a style and player setup that they can adapt to when playing in Europe.

There is no excuse from the Celtic board and Brendan and current financial's. If Rangers can play in Champions League and get to a Uefa Cup Final with this squad

GK 13 Neil Alexander
RB 21 Kirk Broadfoot
CB 3 David Weir
CB 24 Carlos Cuéllar
LB 5 Saša Papac
DM 7 Brahim Hemdani
RM 28 Steven Whittaker
CM 6 Barry Ferguson (c)
CM 8 Kevin Thomson
LM 35 Steven Davis
CF 19 France Jean-Claude Darcheville
Substitutes:
GK 16 Graeme Smith
DF 30 Christian Dailly
MF 11 Charlie Adam
MF 39 Amdy Faye
FW 9 Kris Boyd Substituted in 86'
FW 10 Nacho Novo Substituted in 77'
FW 27 Lee McCulloch

What can Celtic achieve in Europa League? and what are they're expectations as a club? will their current style be effective enough against similar or better opposition? Will Celtic adapt to the so called lessons learned? or will naivety lead the way again into another campaign?

I personally don't think that current financial's, and Scottish football level are at blame here as over the decades their has always been a level of criticism and lack of funding and feel results like last night come down to coaching, bravery and a willingness to try something new. There will always be a gap with Scottish club's as we head into the next decades but it's learning how to minimize the destruction imo that's important.

Thanks for reading and let's debate

<to continue the gloating from a Rangers fan>

Gers gloating is like Halley's Comet.

Whizzes by every 76 years then disappears.
