Week 20

Everton v Birmingham
must win for both and this was a cagey affair, both teams knowing a loss would be no use to them, shots were few and far between and the first half remained goalless with neither keeper really having much to do. The second half Everton burst out the traps, a ball from centre played back to Sidibe, he drove forward and played a neat 1-2 with Sterling, the full back then laid it back to Sterling who scored from a tight angle., the game all of a sudden burst to life and both had good chances, on 56 mins Vardy broke the lines and a burst of pace saw him in on goal, he doesn't waste many chances and this was true to form as he buried it passed Buffon. More chances were created but defnces holding strong, the game ended 1-1 which really was no use to either, it does keep Brum 6 points clear of Everton in the relegation battle

Everton 1 - 1 Birmingham
Sterling(Sidibe,46)
Vardy(Matic,56)
MOTM - Matic

Brighton v Tottenham
Am much improved Spurs travel to Brighto knowing 3 points keeps them in the running for a EL spot, whilst Brighton again another team in need of points to keep them away from the relegation battle. Spurs started very brightly and their pace really causing problems down the wings, it did hurt Brighton in the 13th minute, Sane down the left, he went passed Zabaleta with ease and drilled in a low cross which Icardi managed to nip in in front of Matip to flick home, Spurs were playing very well but just couldn't get that second before half time. Again they started brightly in the second half and had a real foot hold on the game and doubled their lead on 62 mins and agin it was Icardi this time Martial setting him up to tap in. Subs were made and Brighton huffed and puffed, they got their consolation through Walcott after a nice break from Callejon, however it was too little too late

Brighton 1 - 2 Tottenham
Walcott(Callejon, 82)
Icardi x 2(Sane,13, Martial, 62)
MOTM - Icardi

Stoke City v Arsenal
Newcastle v Portsmouth
A high end clash with two fantastic sides on display, different systems but neither really dominating, Lewandowski struck first in 14 minutes after a sublime through ball from KDB, this put Portsmouth on the front foot but they just couldn't make it count and just before half time they were made to pay when Suarez scored after Salah crossed in low. Backwards and forwards the ball went and it was into the latter stages of the game when the goals came, Sub Timo Werner latched onto Silvas ball, he rounded Tah and shot low under the on rushing Lloris, Newcastle made there subs and it was Firmino who equalised right at the death, after a slip from Alderweirald he was on on one with the keeper and he made no mistake

Newcastle 2 - 2 Portsmouth
Suarez(Salah43), Firmino(Pjanic,89)
Lewandowski(KDB,14), Werner(Silva,72)
MOTM - Khedira

Wolves v Chelsea

Aston Villa v Hull City
A straight forward win for Hull with a double for Nabil Fekir

Aston Villa 0 - 2 Hull City
Fekirx2 (Forsberg, 17, 39)
MOTM - Fekir

Liverpool v Leicester

What a wonderful showcase of talent on display, Leicester want to maintain the gap between them and the rest whilst Liverpool are looking to close the gap above them, the away side started quickly and Thiago getting the better of Fabinho in midfield he played Costa in and he didn't need a second chance as he put the visitors ahead, Lesta were on top but Liverpool defended well and they got the break they desired on 29 minutes again as in recent weeks, Dybala and Morata combining well, as Savic played in the cross, it was knocked down by Morata and Dybala driving in he connected with an unstoppable shot, however this was undone by a stupid challenge by Skriniar which resulted in a penalty for Lesta, Ronaldo grabbed the ball and struck home to gain the advantage again at half time. The game went on, both enjoying possession but coming to nothing, this was until subs were made, and Mariano made a huge impact coming on as Liverpool reshuffled, he drove passed the Lesta defence and drilled it home for the equaliser on 68 mins. Lesta seemed to take a few mins more to get back into there stride after subs were made, but eventually they caught Liverpool out as they were pushing for the winner they lost the ball, Asensio picked up and sprinted away with Ronaldo for company, they got away from Skriniar and Umtiti and Ronaldo was played in, he rounded the keeper and calmly pushed home there 3rd goal and which also proved to be the winner in a highly entertaining game

Liverpool 2 - 3 Leicester
Dybala(Morata, 29), Mariano(Savic,68)
Costa(Thiago,4), Ronaldox2(Pen,39, Asensio,85)
MOTM - Ronaldo

Wolves v Chelsea

An intriguing contest with Wolves fielding a very nimble frontline with two excellent deep-lying playmakers looking to send them away on the counter and this caused the Chelsea rearguard a fair amount of problems. Chelsea were able to control possession though and carved out a lot of chances of their own, with Wolves back 3 struggling massively to cope with the Chelsea front three. It made for a high scoring game but Chelsea's quality going forward shone through.
Wolves 2-3 Chelsea
Wolves Scorers: Aubameyang (Willian) 37, Aubameyang (Jorginho) 52
Chelsea Scorers: Aguero (Neymar) 20, Aguero (Carvajal) 44, Aguero (Pogba) 68
MOTM: Sergio Aguero

Stoke vs Arsenal

Interesting matchup, both sides playing a very similar formation, Stoke wanting to be the counter-puncher, whilst Arsenal look the busier and play on the front-foot.

Both sides have very dangerous front-lines, BUT I think Arsenal's defence can cope that bit better and it's enough to give the gunners a narrow win.

Stoke 1-2 Arsenal
Lukaku (Gelson)
Belotti x2 (Mata, Douglas)

MOTM - Manolas
