First time watching live

My first time yesterday being at the tennis, was fair looking forward to it along with my kids and we weren't disappointed.

first up braehead arena should remain home of davis cup. it's a great wee intimate arena and the fans are as close to the players as logistics can allow, thus causing a great friendly atmosphere (obviously i've only attended football etc before so i don't really have anything direct to compare it to) but i just felt the days event went off great

James Ward up first, i don't remember the hungarian guys name, Wardy as the crowd were calling him, played well and got great backing from a large mainly scottish crowd, some of like myself were only really there to see Andy Murray, he seemed genuinely pleased with the support the crowd gave in his after match speech.

only thing is when he fell (i didn't really see what happened cos i was following the ball and when i looked back he was just lying down) a deathly hush came over the place and for a few seconds i thought is anyone actually going to go help him, thankfully he managed to about fall over the winning line so fair play to the guy for digging in when he was obviously struggling badly.

a 20 min interval when Judy Murray brought out some of the local kids and showed the kind of training regime they go thru. learning various shots in tight spaces, the wee boy and girl using the net looked especially good, they could only have been about 5 so maybe future slam champs in next 15-25 years????

What a view from where i was sitting, 4 seats left of net, opposite side from players seats, 1st row of upper tier, couldn't ask for better tbh.

Then Andy Murray came on and atmosphere went up a good few notches and tbh although i was quite impressed with James Ward after a few points there was a noticable difference in the shot quality in particular Andy's backhand, he drilled some cross court which looked like even the very best wouldn't have got to. some forehands looked really good but was mainly impressed his his backhand and court presence.

i was just saying to my daughter that he hasn't hit an ace yet when he hit 3 in a row, 1 of which was genuinely like a blur.

overall really impressed with the experience and seeing Andy made it all the better.

here's hoping they don't move the venue just cos Britain will now be promoted (assuming they finish the job) or at least alternate it so Scotland gets tennis at least once a year.

Have you ever thought of going to the ATP world tour finals at the O2 in nov?

You'll see top 8 men's players only scheduled in UK for a couple more years I think.
