Federer

Oldest world number one ever!!

Some achievement at 36.

Whilst the competition is not the greatest at the moment, to get to World Number 1 whilst missing to whole clay court season is some achievement.

I said so last year, when Rafa ascended to no 1 that Fed, IMO was the true no 1 considering he gave up the entire chunk of the clay season.

That doesn't take away the fact that right now, the men's game is in transition and ipso facto, moribund.

The women's game OTOH is healthy, competitive, exciting.

I am a massive Fed fan ( though a tennis fan first) and a guy, six months from 37 and another OAP ( in Nadal) shouldn't be dominating this much.

The next generation after have proven to be ultimately useless and the only hope is the next-next gen but so far Thiem, Zverev, Kyrgios are not inspiring confidence either.

Of course i am enjoying this Indian Summer of Fed ( and to an extent, Nadal), for the good of tennis, these guys should be phased out. Bar some disaster, FO is already Nadal's.

On to Wimbledon...

Yes Federer is excellent just like my favourite player Nadal.I just want Nadal to win Wimbledon and Australian Open one more time before retiring. The way Federer has played since returning from injury last year is nothing short of phenomenal.I just want Nadal to get back match fit so that I can see him again playing his best.

Well Nadal was impressive in his match against Kohlschreiber on his favourite surface, which shows the clay court swing and FO is his to lose.

I love Nadal but I want him to win Wimbledon and Australian Open at least one more time before he retires from tennis in few years from now.

You are sounding like a broken record with this request. Well, tbh he has a chance of accomplishing it. If Fed can, then I don't see why not ( Wimbledon, less so)

We need to have a regular 'tennis thread' spanning the entire tennis season and not situational ones focusing on certain slams et al...
