where do you think we'll finish now?

I think:

Villa will take 7 from 9 and finish 4th
Boro will take 7 from 9 and finish 5th
Brentford will take 7 from 9 and finish 6th (on GD)
Bristol will take 7 from 9 and finish 7th (on GD)
Millwall will take 2 from 9 and finish 8th
Preston will take 5 from 9 and finish 9th
Derby will take 1 from 12 and finish 10th
Sheff U will take 3 from 9 and finish 11th

These are the only teams in contention with us. Fulham & above are out of range, Ipswich & below are too far back.

I see Millwall just missing out... they have a brutal run-in... pretty much like our own. I think Brentford are going to be the 'surprise' that gatecrash the top six at the last moment - they have three games against weak teams and two at home.

What's your prediction now?

At Burton there was a chant of ‘you’re not fit to wear the shirt’.

Appropriate or not?

You also then previously wrote that they are only human.

Well that’s covered all bases that has.

Do you have any emotion or are they all suppressed by ‘they are all human’. Well I’m human too and if I feck up I know it and turn it around before I get the sack. This lot just move on to the next pay cheque.

I’m sure we have all been to grounds where the home fans make it a cauldron. The players feel they are up against it from the start. We might still win of course, but it definitely reduces our chances a little. The statistics back this up. Should it make a difference? Maybe not, but it does.

Away managers say to their players before they go out to play: “If you can keep the crowd quiet you’re half way there”. They know that if the home crowd is quiet the home team gets edgy. Players get scared of making mistakes and play less naturally and confidently. Should this happen? Maybe not, but it does.

On Saturday, when we sit on our hands in our thousands, we have done Tony Pulis’s job for him. We have made it easier for his team. We may feel we are justified in believing that it is the players’ job to inspire us and not the other way around, but we will have reduced our chances of winning.

Which question did you answer.

We are 3-1 down at Burton. Should we still happy clap?

posted on 18/4/18

Not happy, no. We should however remain defiant and sing appropriate songs to indicate that we are bloodied but unbowed and to show that anything that does not kill us will make us stronger.

“Derby till I die” etc

I'll be there, but out of morbid curiosity.
