Heavyweight Watch

Latest movements and rumours in the heavyweight division. Whilst the quality may not be there, the division hasn’t been in a better way for decades.

Fury’s opponent should be announced this week (Thursday). Won’t be anyone of note, but it’s great that he’s back.

Whyte looks set to face Ortiz. Bit of a joke this one, not sure why the WBC have ordered this. The winner set to become mandatory. Hoping it’s Whyte as he brings more to the table than Ortiz.

Haye takes on Bellew next Saturday. Think he’ll win early doors. Parker said to be looking at the winner of this contest. Not sure what that does for him, but should Haye take Parker out, does that set up a shot at AJ?

Hope Bellew returns back down to cruiser. He seems like a genuine bloke who’s banked some great money from the Haye saga. If he fights on I hope it’s at cruiser.

AJ’s talks with Wilder seem to have gone a bit stale. Ball is well and truly in his court at the moment. Personally I’d rather Fury/Whyte/Haye fought Wilder and set up an all British unification bout. Think all 3 would take him too.

Can’t see the AJ Wilder fight getting over the line anytime soon. What would you like to see from the division?

It would be great if we were entering the later stages of the year with 4 British heavyweights gunning for titles.

So bored of the AJ Vs Wilder will they won't they saga. Could care less about how much money either of them will make or about all the corrupt boxing organisations. Wake me up when they eventually make the fight. Probably 2020/2021.

Fancy Bellew to beat Haye again tbh, just think he has his number and Haye's finished, he's never fully fit even when he makes it to a fight, and he's had what 3 fights in 6 years? 1 he snapped his achilles in and lost, and the other 2 were 1 rounds vs pub fighters. Could see how off his timing and balance and accuracy was in the first fight

Bellew's just too crafty and ring savvy for him, style doesn't suit Haye at all

Yup I'm also starting to suspect that Bellew is probably just a bit too savvy for this injury prone, over the hill version of Haye. Five or six years ago it may have been a different story but Bellew seems to know how to neutralise him. Will probably be Haye's last fight.

Interesting, what’s this based on?

Haye has already bounced him round in sparring and almost KO’d him with heavy gloves and head guard. A while ago yes but still relevant.

Fury is a better boxer and don’t think Wilder would land.

Whyte would be a tear up, but Ortiz caused Wilder huge problems and I’m sure Dillian could do the same.

Whilst I dont exactly agree Wilder beats them all, he is more than capable of wiping them all out. He hits harder than all three. No ifs no buts, if Wilder catches any of them three clean they sleep. AJ can outbox and KO him, Fury can defo outbox him with ease, haye is simply to far gone now and he would lose now I think....3/4 years Haye wipes him out, not sure he has the tools anymore.

As I said though if Wilder lands flush with a big shot then its night night for all of them. That being said he is also the most vulnerable out the lot IMO

Wilder showed against Ortiz for the first time he has a chin and has heart.

Fury has to be the most overated boxer on the planet... put on his ass by Cunningham, and beat Klit in what was probably his worst ever performance.
other than that, other than verbally, he has done nothing.

Haye just doesnt have the heart anymore, maybe 5 years ago.

the best match up would be whyte... in fact whyte beats fury for me too

Wilder would have been finished in that moment against Ortiz if he wasnt so old and gassed. No surprise that after the next round following that Ortiz had nothing left at all.

If you dont rate Fury as at least a decent technical boxer for his size then your opinion loses validity as far as Im concerned. He is capable at the very least. Whyte does not beat Fury for me.

Fury done a job on Chisora that no one else has ever done, same with Hammer. He completely toyed with them both, like he was doing with Cunningham before getting put down (Tyson was in awful shape for that fight also)
