Two middleweight Goliaths will collide on September 15 at the T mobile Arena in Las Vegas as Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin aim to settle unfinished business. A draw was deemed appropriate by the judges in their first contest but both men will have aspirations of removing any doubt in this much anticipated rematch. Although the WBO,WBA and IBF titles are on the line, this fight will represent an opportunity to solidify legacies, attain boxing greatness and leave an unmistakable imprint in the sports history books.
Fight Prediction:
I see this fight going similarly to the first but the major difference will be Golovkin's increased pressure and aggression. I think he will start quickly and we will not see as much hesitancy in his offence as we saw in the first fight. Canelo will still be the faster puncher and I think he will have success in the middle rounds but he looks smaller at the weigh in that he did in the first fight and I think Golovkin's jab will be a problem for him once more. As the fight goes on, Golovkin's early body work should pay dividends and when he does have Canelo up against the ropes, he will unleash everything, including the kitchen sink. Both men have granite chins and I don't see a stoppage or knock downs but Golovkin is getting older and if his chin suddenly deteriorates, Canelo will find it. Overall, this is still a close fight, despite Canelo being off the juice and I'd favour Golovkin just as I did in their first contest but he will need to convince the judges and that could mean a minimum 3 round difference. That could also play a factor in his approach to the fight and this could leave openings for Canelo but I see Golovkin taking it via unanimous decision.

Yeh as I said before it sucks because with AJ where he takes so much money the actual show is pretty poor in comparison because they haven’t got the money for it to balance out whereas with someone like Whyte there’s more noney to spread out on the undercards. I prefer them type of shows, your really just paying for AJ
And yeh still got potentially fury wilder PPV may weather pac 2 PPV Chisora Whyte 2 PPV

Finally got round to watching the fight. Closer than the first 1 but I had Golovkin winning by 1 round. I could see how a draw could be given but Canelo, for me, didn't do enough to win the championships.
Does anyone remember what they scored Round 9 as? I had it a solid Golovkin round but the 2 judges who had Canelo win had it the reverse.

A lot of people, boxers included who have given Canelo a win have done so without really scoring rounds. It's more subjective opinions about Canelo bringing 'Mexican Style' and basically not being knocked out by GGG.
The forward aggression has been overplayed as well. Was GGG ever against the ropes? I don't remember it being once unlike first fight where GGG did have Canelo.
As for Round 9 - i remember watching and giving rounds 9 to 12 all to Golovkin.

I read somewhere that the majority of boxing journalists scored the fight as a win for GGG as well.

Hopefully the ref is not one of Hearn's stooges that will break them every time Povetkin gets on the inside.
