Ramsey Is Not A Big Loss At All

I'm delighted Arsenal have decided to take a stand against Ramsey.
He is not worth anywhere near the amount he is demanding.

Did you catch the way he was shaking his head when he was dragged off?
I don't know who's gassed this guy up but I'm certainly glad he is leaving.
Bang average player.

I like this no nonsense stance Emery has brought to the club. No one is safe.

I'd love Ramsey to stay but the team may be more balanced without the Welshman

"You were crying your eyes out when Sanchez was rumoured to be joining City, you actually created a stupid article about it. Yet he is the biggest flop Man U ever signed. Who is the mug then?"

Wth? Is this guy serious?

Ramsey was a good solid player for us through all these years. Personally I'm not big fan of him as he is inconsistent and also injury prone. Wouldn't mind if he leaves.

I'm kinda half and half on the whole saga. We're obviously losing a real talent with Ramsey. He's been a solid performer for us for so many years and won us a couple of trophies. However unless he's played at CM i can't really see how Ramsey fits in with Emery's style of play. Ramsey is most effective when playing up against a donkey like Giroud. We've moved on from that play now.

However he's not worth the amount that he's reported to be demanding and i'm glad the club have finally grown a backbone and stood up to these ridiculous wage demands.

Think its obvious Arsenal withdrew the offer when Gazidis left.

Average footballer. Aside from his good engine, he is technically deficient in all other aspects of the game.
I have not seen a footballer stumble so much in trying to execute the basics of the game.
I believe he knows he would not start for another top six side in the EPL (not even Manu) and will either go abroad or to Everton.

For what it's worth (which is very little), Ramsey was our player of the year last season. So therefore it is pretty logical that he and his agent would look at what we're paying Ozil and think "Well I was better than him last season so I should be getting somewhere near what he's on..." and to be honest I can't blame him for that. Is he "worth it"? Well no, clearly not. Very few players are (and it doesn't seem like Ozil is one of them either based on what he's done since he signed that contract).

I'm fairly indifferent on this issue. If we've decided to bin off Ramsey's offer, whether because Gazidis has gone (there you go J99), or because Emery has had a few games to realise he's not gonna get 250k pw worth out of him, then I'm happy with that. Then again, if he does sign then I still think he's a good enough player to do good things with us. Presumably it'll take some home truths from Emery as to his role in the team, but if the boss thinks he can make it work then fine.

It's good not to be in a position that we're not being held to ransom by a player we desperately need to keep. It's still terrible management of the situation by the club because we could have got a decent chunk of money for him if we had let it be known we were open to offers in the summer.

I’d like to think he was shaking his head cause he knew he’d had a poor game. He didn’t deserve to stay on the pitch and iwobi to his credit changed the game for us. Ramsey is a gd player on his day, vastly overrated by some. Honestly wouldn’t lose sleep if we lost him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He may not be a star player, but he doesn't deserve to be slagged off. Imo he wanted to stay and has acted honestly in the contract negotiations, unlike the likes of Sanchez (agreed a new deal then rebelled before signing and disappeared to OT) and RvP (was bed-ridden for most of his time at Arsenal but after his first brilliant season he dumped us for OT). As for Iwobi, I agree he changed the game on Saturday and he is much younger so logically would be a better long term investment. But please lay off Ramsey.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im not laying into him at all, I am giving my honest opinion of him. I don’t think he warrants the money he wants, his agent is obviously in his ear daily. His last great half a season was about 4 yrs ago, I don’t think he’s done anything of note to justify a big new contract. I’ve been a big critic of Iwobi in the past, him being younger has nothing to do with it, he’s starting to apply himself, correcting the mistakes he’s been making.

I’ve always seen Ramsey as a poor frank lampard, arrives in the area at times and can be a goal threat , he ain’t nowhere near the level of a lampard or Gerrard tho. That is the level he should be aiming at , at his age. Some fans have been brainwashed into believing he’s something he’s not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, how much does he want?
Secondly, why was the club happy to agree to a new deal on those terms then renege on what they agreed in the first place?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on his recent performances and injury record , he should actually take a wage cut from his current (reported £110K) a week.

I think most fans are saying the same thing on this thread. Ramsey is a good player but not worth the money he is asking for. Ramsey has been poor this season, be it from contract pressure or just not being able to perform at the levels the new manager demands.

Unfortunately in my opinion Gazidis/Wenger have left us in a precarious situation with wages. There is a finite amount of money and players are not contracted for the long term and by having short term contracts are demanding wages in an ever increasing inflationary market much sooner than at other clubs. So difficult decisions are being made.

Can anyone here hand on their hearts suggest that Ramsey has developed to his promise? He is not young anymore so there isn't the hope of better coaching improving him like we have with Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Mavrapos etc.

So the implications of this are he is going to leave. Strangely he is linking himself to Liverpool when Oxlade confirmed he had to take a reduced contract compared to one on offer at Arsenal. So for a man who considers himself on par with Ozil, whose brand has been built on years of success at Real Madrid and Germany, where is he going to get the money he wants? If he is demanding a premium to stay then he should feck right off. We are finally on an up and he was one of the reasons we went downhill under Wenger. He should give us a discount for having stuck by him through his broken leg and take responsibility to bring us back to the top levels where we once were.
