"Hold on Ivan", I hear you cry. "DFC News??? Where's the 'U'??? I don't understand!"

Don't worry folks, you're not being extremely dim-witted. It's just you might not be aware of this, but there's actually a club based across the road from Tannadice called DUNDEE FOOTBALL CLUB (DFC for short) who are allegedly a professional football team. Don't worry, I can understand your confusion.

Well, nobody normally bothers with them, but this week something actually interesting has happened to them (that wasn't them going into administration). This is a surprising development, I know.

And I don't even mean the fact that they've appointed a new manager, Jim McIntyre (who of course once scored a winner for United in a Dundee derby once upon a time, and who was overlooked for the recent United manager vacancy in place of Robbie Neilson).

No ladies and gentlemen, the real interest is in the move NOT to appoint former Dundee player and assistant manager Billy Dodds as the assistant to new manager Jim "United 1 Dundee 0" McIntyre.

"Why the devil not??" I hear you cry. Well, let me explain it to you.

Dodds was assistant manger to Gordon Chisholm when Dundee decided to once again strut down Administration Avenue. But Billy decided he wasn't keen on the CVA that Dundee offered this second time and decided to pursue the full amount owed to him at a time when the future of Dundee FC was quite perilous. This has led to the so-called fans of the wee team to get all excited and try to string full sentences together to express their outrage at this. Some have even gone as far as to threaten to pull out the mythical (and structurally integral) bush that dwells inside their stadium.

You see, there was a possibility that if more had been like Dodds then the club could have liquidated. And we all know what liquidation means for a club, don't we?

So there you go. Dundee FC being quite interesting. What a week!
