Alisson out

Looks like we will have Adrian in tomorrow, hopefully if they pull their finger out he won’t be very busy . Anything less than 3 pts is a disaster

Well, I asked this question a long time ago:

“I also think it's the lack of serious injuries that people are referring to when things go your way. If you're without key players for any significant period, can you cope?”

One injury to your goalkeeper and arguably that has cost you in the CL.

I remain unconvinced that Liverpool's squad is good enough for a challenge on all fronts and I do wonder how successful this side would be with a handful of injuries for significant periods.

Looks like it's a more credible opinion than some gave it credit for...

Yes it's easy to pat yourself on the back, when a loss occurs in one game, with a player being out and claim victory, however I'd say that when we beat Barca 4-0 with Firmino, Salah and Robertson out, winning the CL and finishing one point behind the leaders of the PL, on 97 points, that pointed to the opposite.

It's easy to pick one game and draw conclusions, even though the one game last night we pummeled the Atletico defence, with 35 shots.

Oh look who's back.

Couldn't address the point where you lied about me changing the criteria, could you?

Yes, you could make the alternative argument based on the Barca game but I'd say that is actually a flawed argument.

Why?

Because I think 'surviving' one game without a few key players doesn't mean you could survive for a prolonged period without them.

Whereas a performance like Adrian's last night would arguably never have happened with a fit Allisson, so it's entirely reasonable to suggest that you lost because your back up keeper wasn't good enough.

Well then you've contradicted yourself if that's your argument.

You've used one game with one player out, where we dominated the game, had 35 shots and normally would have won the game to determine we couldn't survive a prolonged period and yet brushed off the Barca game as one game.

I haven't contradicted myself - you just don't understand the difference between the two.

The point is that when you have key players out, let's say for a period of 10 games, it won't necessarily affect your ability to win every one of those 10 games but it might affect you in one or two... which ultimately can be the difference between winning trophies or not.

So, winning a game with a player out is not necessarily proof that you can cope without them for the long term but losing a game with a player out, when their replacement has cost you the game, is reasonable proof of the above.

Let me know which part you don't understand.

Then again, you failed to understand that missed league games was being used as evidence that none of your players had missed a significant period of the season, so I can't see you picking this one up any time soon tbh.

Well then that's just obvious and every team have the same issue. You're tying yourself in knots now and talking rubbish.

I'm out.

posted on 12/3/20

Well no, that's the point, not every team has that issue.

I'd argue that City have a far better squad - mainly because they've spent more money than you.

And this is why people think that with none / not many significant injuries to key players, Liverpool have been fortunate, and also why I said what I did.

It's a credible point that you initially responded to with a flawed reply and now one that you can't muster any reasoned response to, so of course you're out.

But by all means TOOR, do explain why, when I raised the subject of Liverpool not having suffered injuries to key players for significant periods, you listed Salah, Mane and Firmino.. none of whom missed a significant period for you.

You can't, of course.
