Reaction to Lamps Sacking / Tuchel Incoming

What’s your initial reaction to the Lampard sacking? Harsh or deserved? And with Tuchel?

My gut reaction is mixed but more in favour it’s a bit harsh/early. The confidence I had that Lampard could take us to be a title challenging team went but the way this season is going I’m sure we would be able to get back to some form soon and probably still be in the top four race. And we probably do ‘owe’ it to Frank to give him until the end of the season..right? The fact the sacking is appearing as so sudden - after a win, all systems go within a few hours, it just seems unnecessarily disrespectful for a club legend who overall imo has done a decent job.

On the other hand if the right manager became available then I can see why the sacking might have to be done. Is Tuchel the guy? The reaction is very mixed on Twitter. But I actually quite like his CV - I think it’s most rounded of all available managers. He mixes both a defined style of play, use of youth players and experience managing title challenging teams. He seems that he’s built a reputation of being combustible, falling out after 2-3 years. But so does Conte - if Tuchel could get us to be performing at the top for 2 years that could be great.

This makes me wonder if the apparent hastiness to get Lamps sacked this morning was because Tuchel was otherwise going to be lost. We have apparently been lining him up since early Jan according to Goal.com.

Frank Lampard on Villa Boas :

"..the players had no part in his dismissal, he played his cards and they didn't work, maybe he was too young and maybe the job was too soon for him."

If I was Roman I’d bring in Rodgers over Tuchel who I feel is overrated. Rodgers would be a good fit and knows the club too. Would be tricky to prize him away from Leicester though.

No chance. There’s no way BRodge, who is in such a comfortable position right now, will walk out the door. There’s too much going for him at the minute. If he did then I might just as well give up with this bloody sport. Mind you he left Celtic in a hurry did he not?

As for Frank, I am so sorry it hasn’t worked out for him. One of the few who held this England team together 10 years ago or so and a favourite outside of my mob, this was the one managerial job I had hoped would work out.

Deserved. The team was going nowhere under Lampard and top 4 was slipping away. There was no way we were ever going to win titles with Lampard. And given that's the case, there's no sense in giving him more time. You're just prolonging the inevitable. He had 1.5 seasons to show his potential as a world class manager and he never did. and Chelsea deserve no less than a World Class manager.

Many people said exactly the same thing about Fergie during his first four years at Man Utd and look how that turned out.

As for Lamps not showing any potential he guided Chelsea to top four when almost nobody was giving us a prayer during the transfer ban and after Hazard left.

Also you might want to ask Mount, Tammy, James etc if they credit Lamps with their development from Championship players to established Chelsea players.

Oh furrrking wow, he guided us to 4th place, 1 point above Lester furrrking City, what an amazing achievement

The biggest myth of Lampard's time as manager was that 4th place last season was an overachievement. I'm sorry, finishing 1 point about Lester furrrking City as Chelsea manager is not a furrrking overachievement. It's the bare minimum.
