An absolute monster granted permits to buy and use guns and ammunition. He was armed to the teeth with thousands of rounds.

It doesn't get any worse than killing kids.

Thankfully the law in this country and other countries was changed to stop this ever happening again.

I'm all for living in a free and just world, I just don't think the average person should have access to firearms.

RIP kids

Agreed. Don’t get me wrong, any killing or murder is sick, but I think killing children and raping/killing women is about as evil and low one can get

Its impossible to imagine how somebody does it the 1st time. But to keep going. Stop and reload. Just horrid.

Me and my brother were in the scouts and BB in dunblane. I think he had been banned by both at that point but given the amount of private youth clubs he was involved in I'm sure paths probably crossed. Still gives me the creeps.

Meanwhile in America...

Really shocking, too young at the time to really register fully but it’s one of those that your remember where you were when it happened.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst the mass shootings get the media attention in the US a much much bigger issue is the suicides by firearm - almost 2x the homicides. Probably because it is too convenient at 1.2 guns per head of population.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember reading the statistics and laughing, but also feeling really sad too..at the fact when the full extent covid struck, lots of Americans went out to buy...guns.

I mean what they going to do, shoot the virus? It’s so heavily ingrained in their psyche that the first thing they do is arm up.

Madness.

Andy Murray, the tennis player is from there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not just from there, he was hidden in a cupboard by his teacher to save him from that murdering bas tard Thomas Hamilton.
People say he is too dour and doesn’t smile enough, not surprising when you realise how close he came to death.

The 16 weans and their teacher heart breaking.

Hope you and yours are well mate.

Get back up to Scotland's hills and glens again when this is over

Always liked Murray. That’s got to have had a huge impact on him, surely. Crazy to think what that must have been like.

Can't wait to get back up there. Always remember my first sight as a lad of the Wallace Memorial, north of Stirling, not too far from Dunblane I think, but happy to be corrected.

Got my jab booked on Monday, hopefully not too long now before we start to get back to some form of normality

Dunblane is slightly further on from roundabout when M9 meets A9 but overall you're in right area. You see monument to the right going north and soon after reach end of the m9

Yeah the 'beginning of the end' is visible now.

I'm from a town near Dumblane. And was in school then too. Moved away years ago of course but Perth is my home town. I recall every school playground being converted into a secure area shortly after this tragedy. I think every school and community were shaken by the news. I recall new 10 ft fences raised at every school and locked gates and doors every day. Gun law is one thing the UK is still light years ahead of the US for.

Shockingly murder accounts for around 450,000 deaths annually based on current global statistics available.

When will the world hold the US to task over their stats on this issue? Why are restrictions still not being placed on firearm sales there? It's shocking really.

In Remembrance
