I alluded to this on a thread last night but thought was worthy of its own thread...
We didn’t start well last night, thought we were a bit flat, but De Bruyne never stopped. We all know his individual talent but as a captain, he really impressed me yesterday. As I said on the thread, he was Kompany esque, and it’s probably the first time I’ve been completely sold on him wearing the armband.
Really galvanised our midfield, an hour or so in the MF were all hunting in packs, and when City turn the ball over as we started to do very successfully last night, we are pretty unplayable.
As I say, bit of a flat start, but his desire to get us over the line last night was there from the off, can’t help but feel it spurred Gundogan, Foden and Mahrez into having blinders. The Anfield hoo doo is over, the quarter final jinx too, regardless of what we do or don’t end up winning this year, we’re in for an unbelievable few weeks of football, because the hunger and belief in this team, spearheaded by De Bruyne was there for all to see by the final whistle last night.

Raheem seems to have lost the mojo that he had the last couple of seasons, if he is not passing it backwards he is dithering in front of goal or taking on impossible shots. Sad to say but I don't think he is deserving of a slot in the England team, let alone in a City starting line up.

Haaland hardly got a kick. Probably made a few question the hype about him.

Yep., already saw people dismissing Haaland and that he is not worth 150m.
Just dont understand how people can be so fickle. The guy has been sensational for almost 2 seasons now. Has one average performance, and immediately he is the second coming of Bebé.

Heard he's sacked off his agent and going the De Bruyne route. Wonder if his chase of a new contract is playing on his mind?
With Haaland, it's a testament to how our defence has been organised to cancel out his pace. That guy is rapid - fastest in the Bundesliga was it? Hopefully our defence can do the same again against Mbappe and Neymar.
