Brum v Forest Match Thread

St Andrews Wednesday 19:45 K.O

He who laughs first end up with egg on face.
I just hope that Hughton gave em' all a rollocking after that performance, as opposed to his interview for Forest T.V.

Anyway we move on to Brum who have had a upturn in form after saying goodbye to the grumpy Aitor Karanka, after Bristol City's 0-3 romp.
Lee Bowyer is the new man in the dugout and has done well apart from a 3-0 Wupping by Watford.

They did Derby a huge favour by nicking the points against Rotherham on Sunday. They will do the same to us unless Hughton gets the show boaters out of the team and sends out a fighting 11 on Wednesday night.

Can’t believe people are calling for CH to go. Crazy. Yes we’ve been poor last few games but give the bloke a chance ffs. He’s not even had a full season.

Ah ha! The Johnson excuse!!!

Worrying dip in the last two games - maybe a combination of:

Garner and Krovinovic running out of steam

Players getting nervous after last season

Other players not bothered as they know they're on their way

No functioning strikers

CH knows he has the makings of a very good defence next season (if we can find a LB). Brennan Johnson would add a lot to attacking midfield, regardless of whether we get Krovinovic and Garner back.

I'd keep Cafu as a solid midfield option. Beyond that, we need a couple of strikers and Lolley and Ameobi reporting in fit.

No Rev, it was me. He won’t get a full season, the reason being, if he is still there next season, I don’t see our start being any better than this. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against CH, in fact I was delighted when he was appointed, but after 40 plus games we are no better, possibly even worse. We have been dire all season, the players don’t seem to have any idea what the tactics are, and carry less threat than a paper dart. Yes we dodged a bullet and stole a point tonight, but the performance was again inept, just like Saturday, unfortunately like Mourinho, I think CHs brand of football is out of date. Not sure who we can attract, and there in lies the problem. The club is a mess from top to bottom and shows no sign of improvement.

dave - TBH - CH has improved the team since he took over - if you remember, were bottom of the league having played 4 and lost all 4 - only Sheff Wed were below us as they had points deduction

Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t good, inept quite often, but when we can be bothered we can get the results

The one and only thing we have been consistent all season is our inconsistency

The loss of Cash, Watson and Silva along with the lack of form with Lolley and Grabben has totally killed us this season

That is half the team that did well last year not here this - it was always bound to have an effect, although I’m shocked and surprised at how much of an effect it’s had

I still think CH is our best option - he has his work cut out over the summer to turn this dross into a side challenging for promotion - if not, he’ll be gone by Christmas

He needs to get rid of the utter crap we have filling our books - I blame Lamouchi for that overloading the club with over 20 players in less than a year was beyond stupid

We need a decent fullback, an attacking midfielder and 2 decent strikers - if we can get that and get some consistency in the team, in think we could be in for a surprise

But it’s gonna be a difficult task - just like the Forest way

Just seen the penalty - Grabben was bloody lucky - the keeper almost saved that

He needs to be replaced with taking penalties - I think we out to let ‘Own Goals’ take them - he’s up there with the top scorers

Rev, we used to be difficult to beat, that’s not true anymore, Grabban scored 20 goals last season, 5 this, yes he’s missed games, but 25 percent of last seasons total is embarrassing. Garner made a difference when he came into the team, but we still have no creativity. Defence lacks concentration, thus so many goals conceded with statuesque defending. The majority of the loanees, Freeman, Knockaert in particular have been very poor. We have too many sat comfortably on over inflated contracts, Jenkinson, Bong, Taylor that we can’t get rid of. I imagine CH will be given a chance, but the odds are stacked massively against him, as you say not entirely his fault. My problem is not with CH, but his awful mind numbing tactics, boring, negative and in most cases confusing. I for one won’t be spending £400+ for a season card, and making the 250 mile round trip as I’ve done in the past. Like you, football doesn’t ruin my weekend anymore, but I still get disappointed when watching these totally inept performances. We have a decent squad, but can’t translate it onto the pitch.

dave my heart goes out to you mate - and all the others supporters in here or not that spend their hard earned money and time time to follow the team

I’ll always be Forest - the tattoo on my right arm bears witness to that and reminds me of a once very good and proud Club, but to be honest, I’m pleased to live over 200 miles away, so I no longer have the issue of taking the time And money to spend on travelling and season tickets etc - for me I key into them on here - I’ll always support and follow Forest - and when I’m up visiting family, I’ll go to the game if they’re at home

But I decided some time back, I’m no longer going to go outbid my way or forfeit my money and time and a group of men that do not give their absolute all for the shirt

I would have and still would walk over broken glass to play for my Club, and I’d run and give everything I’ll I’d could give no more - and I’d do it for nowt

The players we have, just like the majority of clubs around the country aren’t bothered 1 but about the Club and whether I’d succeeds or not, so long as they are getting their £10K+ a week - they don’t give a damn - to me that is an utter insult

I heard this week that Michael Hefele is on £14K a week that’s for someone who hasn’t played a single game in 2 years - utterly criminal - he’s raking in three quarters of a million pounds a year for doing fck all - that says it all for me

A total and utter shambles

And I ain’t gonna give my money to that cause - no way

Some interesting comments on here post match and I probably go along with 90% of it. So thanks for posting everybody. There aren't as many of us these days but still enjoyable.

My post match thoughts wont add much but I'll just say that we shouldn't judge just on last night but certainly take it into account when forming a long term view. But last night was by far the worst performance of the season against one of the worst teams in the divisio who were on the night easily deserving of the three points.

I must confess I thought we were heading in the right direction but the last two performances cause me to think that if we are we are doing it very slowly with some serious breakdowns on the way.

Doubts are in my head about CH and his ability to survive.

The transfer window will be decisive. If we dump the deadwood and bring in some quality, pace, ambition, and desire we can progress.

End of the season can't come soon enough.

See you all on Saturday

I wouldn’t be sad if CH left. I’ve enjoyed about five matches this season with him in charge. Awful football.

I switched off last night, I-Follow with it's new policy of interrupting the half time R.N commentary to play f'king adverts is just about the last straw for me, apart from the pathetic performances on the pitch.
So I was pleasantly surprise to see later on that we had equalised in 97th minute!

Without exceptional ownership and coaching a club like Forest are at their natural level in the Championship. 20 odd years of failure, really puts the Clough/Taylor years into perspective.

C.H is the best manager we can hope to attract at the moment. He has a mess to sort out created by the owner and that will need time.
