Derby County 1 - 1 Huddersfield Town

DERBY COUNTY V HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

PRIDE PARK STADIUM 1500 Saturday 7th August 2021

Normally I would be writing this in temperatures in their low 90s overlooking a swimmimg pool, bobbing in and out of errant network connection. Today I am looking over my garden with temperatures in their low 60s with a cloudy, overcast sky.

Bit like the predicament my precious club is in (the cloudy, overcast bit).

News about the 5hit surrounding the Club has been little and far between. to the Punjabi Rams who released alot of information after a meeting with Mel the other night. But we still appear none the wiser.

Reactions to the 5hit that the club is in has varied from the incredulous, the thoughtful, the fury and the downright exasperation that we should ever have come to this. Reactions from rivals have generally been "we told you so' with modicum of glee thrown in. They would do well to remember the Niemรถller philosophy (and in no way do I equate what he wrote about with DCFC).

Fans have also reacted by stating that they are not going on Saturday. Thats silly. Mel Morris is not this club. Wayne Rooney is not this club. This club is me,Igor, NSR, LNSR, Mrs View, Vids, Ang, Heb, Scouse, Griff, Cat, Desi, Ramdini, Banno, Terry, Harper, UTC, Wickers, Ken, Spart, Jorvik, Hinton, Peeder, Chica, Fin, 2W, Dixie, 9ear (I'm terrified of missing some ) and to miss going to PP because of some infuriating owner and his tame sidekick is not what being a supporter is about. In my opinion.

I'll be there on Saturday with LNSR. After September I'll be on my own

So see you there and once again Lady and gentlemen, I welcome your comments below xx

Team:-
Roos, Byrne, Stearman, Davies, Forsyth, Shinnie, Bird, Jozwiak, Lawrence, (C), Watson, Kazim-Richards Subs: Allsop, Ebosele, Sibley, Williams, Thompson, Hutchinson, Cashin

I waited to applaud the players off the pitch so I think View must have gone by then. It wasn't a great performance, but not a bad one either given the sh1tstorm of the past week. Pretty much all 6/10 performances, maybe CKR and Forsyth the pick for me. As with last season the issue is going to be goals.

Very good performance by the crowd throughout. Holmes got given a fair bit of stick but fair play to him, he applauded our fans as well as the Huddersfield fans at the end which I thought showed a bit of class on his part.

MORNING AFTER VIEW :
Well the comment "You're never an ex-fan" reverberated in my head yesterday morning as I renewed my RamsTV subscription...I just couldn't bear to not watch the game...
We were greeted by the news that Ravel Morrison had agreed to join us about an hour before KO. Under the circumstances I couldn't fault the line up. The game could've gone either way really so a point was a fair reflection. I thought Watson did well before tiring in the 2nd half. Irritatingly whoever plays in defense we always switch off and lose concentration on crosses and seemingly always look likely to concede from this aspect.
Overall I thought we played OK. 2 players I single out for criticism : Bird and Joz. The former needs to do more - he just nibbles around the edge of the game without really getting involved. Joz I don't think quite "gets" the Championship. A gifted player but doesn't know his role in the team and seems clueless when he gets in the final 3rd. Sibley for me should play instead. He wants to get into the penalty area and score and was unlucky not to yesterday.
To close - what a shambles this scenario between Derby / EFL and the players. Both Rooney and Davies conducted themselves with dignity in the post match interviews - but it was obvious they were not happy with what has been going off.
Anyway....onwards to the mighty Salford and then "The Posh"....will Jack return to haunt us ?????

Better 16k hardcore fans, than 32k, with half being fair-weather fans, like us, Scouse

I take a guess that the ticketing set-up cost them 4,000 to 5,000 yesterday.

Seems very short sighted by the club and just goes to show we don't have a pot to pi55 in.

I honestly don’t think that anymore than 500 missed out yesterday. I know it was a pain but no way 10,000 missed out on having no printer or a smart phone.

If you really, really, I mean REALLY wanted to go there would have been a way. I’m not defending the ticket policy because I had a nightmare with the Real Betis tickets but if you were really desperate, they is always a way.

I think that within Derby County, there are many who took going to a match as a hobby (which is fair enough) and not as an obsession () and this was the case yesterday.
Also, a lot did not renew last year (why pay hundreds of £ when you couldn’t even see an end to lockdown?)
Others are ‘out if the habit’ and have other more important things to do on a Saturday.
And I bet you see this trend right across Championship clubs.

I agree with all that Terry except maybe re Bird who I thought did OK. The defence worried me as we could not cope with those excellent crosses from Thomas but this may have been explained by the fact that we were told afterwards that this was the first time Stearman and Davies had played together in defence! Davies' post-match interview was very telling and disturbing.
