Forest v Bournemouth

Root canal....man...still got round 2 to look forward to...just like Forest v Wolves.

In the meantime we have three league fixtures. The first of which is Bournemouth...which is on Forest TV...apparently I can buy a single match pass...but computer says no.

Anyway, not a lot of form to go off other than individual players.

My team would be...

Samba
Back Figs (if Baba/Soh/Wozza not available) McKenna Richardson
Yates Fornah
Zinga Carvalho Mighten
Grabban (if available)

Back and Zinga looked great on the right. I know it was Bradford, but it flowed...Back to Zinga to Carvs. Boom.

On the left...hmmmm...thankfully Bong is out so that's at least +1 on the score, +2 if Figs doesn't start...but yeah...it's weak...no idea. LW...got to be Mighten,...Lolley....nah.

Centre...been raving inside my head since the 90's and also about Fornah...he's not mine. He just looks ready. Yates...well...we are all waiting on Garner...but we are light there.

AM....Carvalho did well...but will he start...him or Johnson... all good.

Up front...just like the left...if Grabban is fit then yeah. The Great Zinga looks like an assist master.

Red for 60....if we don't lose anyone (tbh...if anyone it would be Worrall and Gabriel if we had to with Fernandes/Soh and Back looking more than capable)...then we need Garner, the left-side and a forward or two. The rest, with the academy is looking positive....am I positive? Ha...I've been on a steady climb since 2016...whilst Forest have been on the decline since the last century.

I think with a bit of youth and some well timed substitutes we can win this...however...we have conservative Chris...and he needs his Pfizer.

3-2...bizarre I know. But I just feel we can get a freak result whilst we bed in.

Think the reality is we haven’t got a great squad. We’re also missing Worrall which is a big blow given how dodgy Figs has been. There is good talent coming through but Hughton doesn’t have the time to develop them while we hang around mid to lower table. We’ve got to compete like we did under Lamouchi. Guessing Bournemouth will be up there this year but to lose first two is a big worry.

Chris Wilder and Eddie Howe are out of work, surely they would be better than the negative dross we’re being served up

TBH - I was a huge fan of CH, but something is seriously wrong here - he’s had almost a year and I’d say we’re in a worse position now than when he took over

We’re crying out for hungry young talent - the likes we saw midweek - yet he persists with the inept crap week in week out

I’d be prepared to put up with the losses if CH we’re playing half a team of inexperienced youngsters, bleeding them into the first team - but we’re not even seeing that

It’s a desperately sad state the club has got itself into

I can’t see Howe taking the job as he seems to want to stay in the south and Forest isn’t exactly that attractive right now. Wilder would be amazing but surely he’ll get a Prem job soon enough?

I think that Wilder and Howe are, like Hughton, yesterday’s men; as were Karanka and MON. I think our next manager could be an unknown from the continent like Farke or the wba manager (and Lamouchi and Montanier).

Nathan Jones and Chris Cohen anybody?

I think the next two games are crucial for Hughton. But I would still give him until Christmas.

CH probably has 3 games to save his job, Blackburn at home then Stoke and Derby, back to back always. Derby could be the final nail. As for who we’d employ, absolutely no idea.

Today was rubbish by the way. Of the eleven starters only Samba, McK, Tutu, Zinc, and Johnson looked good enough.

Gabriel, Colback, Lolley, and Taylor have to be dropped on Wednesday, we have better options.

I really really wanted Chris Hughton to succeed - I still do, but unless he’s prepared to change his tactic and philosophy, and get the team at him against 10 men to attack and be be offensive rather than so bloody defensive minded, I’m afraid his days are numbered

As I said earlier, I’d be prepared to take the losses if we were seeing 5 or 6 of the youngsters thrown in to give them the chance of gaining experience - but why I’d why does he persist with a losing formula and mentality?

Agree with you Rev.
Today, Bournemouth were 2-1 up, but down to ten men. We were defending a corner and had ten back defending the corner and only one upfield. If he had told three to stay on the half way line they would have had 4 plus the keeper back, eight defending the corner against five. Things like that make me so mad.

Mind you Davies did the same against Swansea in the play off first leg.

When you are playing against ten you have to change your set up, commit men forward, and dictate things.

Red, ever since CH arrived he’s had my total support, he still has it and I so wish him to succeed, but I’m acraid my patience is being eroded away with each negative display and tactical suicide he continues to deliver

I just cannot understand some of his decisions

I thought having seen last Wednesday how some of the youngsters performed it would have given him a real opportunity to change things up this week and show some of the more experienced players that their positions are not guaranteed and they need to perform to keep their place - but what does he do instead, he drops the lot of them, plus the guy who has scored more goals in 1 game that out 2 main strikers have between them in the last 10 - totally pathetic

I thought yesterday was the best we have played in years. Well, at least one year.

Positives: Taylor held it up well, new signings looked very good, good goal from McKenna, we looked good going forwards. Mighten looked like he would have changed the game (if started).

Negatives. Agree with most that Samba, Gabriel, Figs, Colback, Yates and Lolley need dropping. (I don't necessarily think that Colback and Yates are so terrible defensively, just that they don't offer enough offensively)

2-1 down and we don't go for it? Late substitutes, two defensive midfielders, one striker up top...with conservative Chris we are going nowhere.

In a few weeks I'd expect us to have something like:

Samba / Horvath

Tutu / Back (let Gabriel go out on loan to Blackpool)
Worrall / Fernandes
McKenna / Soh
*??? / *???

*Garner / Yates
Fornah / Colback

Z.Nagel / Lolley
Carvalho / Johnson
Mighten / *Rogers

*??? / Grabban / Taylor

It's the making of a good team. I just think CH will continue to hold us back.
