Genuine question

Hopefully some cricket fan with more knowledge than me can answer my question?
Why did England with so many wickets in hand not go harder, sooner?
Morgan faced 2 deliveries I think?
They seemed to wait until about the 19th over before trying to smash every ball. So frustrating to lose when probably another 20 or so runs were needed and you end the innings with so many wickets left in the shed.
I get in early part of the game it can take a few balls to get your eye in and partnerships are still important. But, to be beaten when you’ve not used all the wickets/resources available to you is madness. That’s just poor timing and poor tactics.
Morgan faced 2 balls! So frustrating.

Nz bowled good lengths which we struggled to hit and varied the pace well.
We should have attacked much sooner for sure

Thanks, not going mad then. I’ve seen other teams do the same batting first.
Morgan just 2 balls!!. And he was due a good innings.

166 was a par score. If we bowled better, we should have defended that.
We eneded up being 20 short.
NZ played well and capitalised on our poor bowling at the end.

So Pakistan have just done exactly what England did. Did they not watch England’s game?
Finishing their innings with wasted wickets left behind when they could have been pushing a score close to 200 if they had gone harder sooner.
