Captain Poll

Time for Arteta to be brave and appoint a captain that fits the tradition of Arsenal FC. No mucking around now with cowardly decisions or stop gap appointments that we'll regret again in two years time.

For me, Arteta has 5 clear candidates in a squad that's threadbare of leadership.

1 - Make Tierney Captain until January. He should surely be able to string together a few performances over the next couple of weeks. Once January hits go all out to sign Aaron Ramsey. The guy understands the club and would never demand outrageous sums of money/the armband to stick around like Auba did. He'd just leave instead.

2 - Terminate Gwendouzi's loan and get him back in the club as Captain. Gwen's ain't afraid to call out his team mates and let them know they're sh|t. May also help us to replace Auba with Maupay.

3 - Promote Jack Wilshere from unsigned lad exploiting previous fame, directly up to team captain. After all, Arteta did say that it's nice to have him around.

4 - Terminate Saliba's loan and bring him back as Captain. Sure, this is just a rehashed version of option #2, but why not? We all watch him week in, week out playing for Lyon. I haven't missed a game and he's clearly the centre Midfielder that we've craved since Viera left. Maybe he can be the leader too?

5 - Reinstate Granit Xhaka as Captain. I admit, this may seem pretty outrageous in comparison to the above options, but we can't rule out Arteta doing something completely out of the box. Xhaka is a known leader around the camp. You can't forget that it was only last summer that he put in the performance of the century against France in the European Championships. Never done it for Arsenal mind, but that's kinda irrelevant ain't it?

As you can see, hope isn't lost. As long as Arteta can be brave and perhaps think a little outside of the box, I think we're in safe hands.

*for what it's worth, I'd love to see Gabriel step up as Captain. Unlikely and perhaps, rightly so, too soon.
