Just wanted to make a quick article about our colossus, Virgil Van Dijk.
Salah is taking all the plaudits this year and that’s fair. His goals and all round play has been sensational.
However, Jurgen Klopp said something recently about how the defence has been arguably the primary reason why we’ve caught up to City and I agree with him.
Joel Matip has been in great form and was awarded with the player of the month award. Van Dijk on the other hand has been, well… Van Dijk.
Top class performances are no longer commended but expected.
Liverpool have many important players but none more important than our Dutch Titan.
• His first full season with LFC, we won the European cup.
• His second full season with LFC, we won the Premier League.
• His third full season, we’re challenging for a historic quadruple.
We may not win the other trophies of course but just look at those bullet points for when we’ve had the man play a full season.
Salah will win the gongs I’m sure but I’ve no doubt that Van Dijk is the difference maker and Liverpool’s most important player.

Notice they don't talk about a single area of VVD's game....
It's all personal point scoring.
VVD will concede goals, he'll even make a mistake or two. But he plays CB better than anyone I've seen in my lifetime. There isn't a single area of his game that isn't top class

TBH Of all the keepers i have seen like clemence, shilton, seaman, Schmeichel, cech etc I can also safely say I have never seen a better keeper than alisson. He man is a mountain but he is technically perfect. if he wants to catch he is perfect. if he wants to make an assist with a long pass he can, if he wants to throw it lone he can do it, his positioning is perfect,, he never dropped anything out in front, every save looks routing. His ability 1 on 1 is utterly astounding.
The others all had great strengths but its all in the one package for me.
VVD is similar. every aspect of his game is technically astounding.
Its like this anyone who has no bias would admit that if they watched players like ronaldo or even rooney just warming up never mind in a game you would say that technically what they do is perfect. Ronaldo striking the ball, heading, etc is absolutely technically perfect. simple as. I can't stand the arrogance but the work ethic to build his "egacy2 and the technical ability simple cannot be ignored.
Bringing it back to this season ... IMO I can see that vvd has the smell of trophies in his nose and when you get that and all the others are similar you can go far.
IMO their games have raised by 10/15% just by being absolutely determined to win those games.
