Bolton Wanderers v Sheffield Wednesday

The big games keep coming. Another ex premier league fixture played in league one and a proper big club coming to the unibol with a sell out away end and a crowd of 18000 plus expected. The season kind of petering out for Bolton. 5 to go and still mathematically can get 5th but the recent run of just 1 win in 5 has effectively ended that opportunity. Sheffield Wednesday in 5th look locked in a 4 team mini league for the last 2 play off places. Team news. The injury list piling up. Sheehan, tutte, isgrove, fossey, Lee, Santos, afolayan, Dempsey all out injured. Also unknown players with illness. At least one academy player may have to be called into the squad to make up the numbers on the bench. 3pm kick off.

Missed the goal as I didn't want to be about for the away end dispersing after the game.

As soon as the last word of "I'll take missing a late equaliser as punishment" came out I heard the cheer and the residual noise of the tannoy announcement that pretty much confirmed we'd scored.

In the 33 years of going though this is only the second goal I've ever missed when actually attending.

Evatt mentioned the fact we've had injuries and illnesses this week. Trafford was ill, Bodvarsson had a bad back, Dapo has hamstring twinge so wasn't risked. Least Dempsey and Dapo look like being OK for the Easter weekend.

Final thought for now.

For all their shots I don't think there were many chances that were up to a decent standard.

As for ours Dion Charles showed with the finish for his offside goal that there's still a chance that he can turn his goalscoring form around.

Apologies I missed everything yesterday. I did have a smile, when I saw we'd scored another late one.
Looks like I'm in for a busy week down South ,so don't expect I'll be around much.

Three decent teams and three draws.

No doubt we have work to do in the summer and new signings are going to be made. Two or three good signings should hopefully give us that extra bit of quality that we need to push on for promotion.

I doubt we will sign Xavia. He's been unlucky with injuries but signing Fossey and Trafford in addition to new signings would be a bonus.

Onwards and upwards.

4 to go and Bolton need brown, blue, pink and black plus snookers to make the playoffs now. Still a lot to look forward to and a strong finish needed. Looks positive news on afolayan and Dempsey being available for the 2 Easter games. Continue with a back 4 with Santos being out. Afolayan for sadlier for me who was poor yesterday.

I have given up the ghost of getting into a play-off position. It's now about doing our best in the remaining games, keeping confidence at a premium and keeping our players during the close season and next transfer market.

MJ seems to think that we will retain all of our key players. I very much hope that we will but as they say, football is a funny old game and you never know what will happen.

Continuing Benny's snooker theme, wonder if anyone has ever pulled off the trick shot we would need to make the play-offs from here? Needs no more than one of the teams on 73 points to get a single point more, and considering two of them play each other that means at least one of them definitely will get at least a single point more. Oh and of course we win all four of our games, scoring a hatful of goals in the process.

Tantalisingly not quite mathematically impossible yet but probably will be by Friday.

My targets for the summer would include one or two pensioned off premier league squad players with a bit of know-how in the Lee mould

I'll pop in for a quick one.
It's important we win at Donny and do all we can to assist in relegating them.

It's looking likely I'll be missing over the Bank Holiday weekend. Can somebody do the team sheet, I'll try and do the highlights as I'll want to at least see them.

I'm hoping to have completed a mammoth amount of tasks I have on Friday to be in place for the game, (both available on Ifollow), so I'll hopefully be posting something.
