PSVR 2 drip feed

Well I now have a PS5, and anyone that knows me will know I enjoy the VR experience. So with PSVR2 on the horizon, I am keen to gleen any snippet of information out there.

Well the latest is it will have a see through feature, which doesn't sound that impressive, but now with a touch of a button, you will be able to see your surroundings, via a small camera on the headset. So no more feeling around for your controllers, or having to take off the headset to see who has entered the room.

It will also be able to stream you while playing in VR, if you purchase a PS camera. last but not least, you will be able to set play area boundaries, so if you should accidentally start to wander beyond them, the system will warn you.

Oh and a VR cinema mode, able to watch your favourite movie, like sitting in a cinema.

Nothing that revolutionary, most has been available for other systems for a while, but it is nice to know PSVR2 will have these features, it really does look like it will be one of the most fully featured headsets out there.

And oh yeh PSVR2 looks amazing - as long as the price is good should be a solid system, hope it pulls the industry out of the VR slump we are currently in as VR is amazing and games like Alex need to be played by everyone!

Deffo second the Days Gone recommendation, Amiga. I never played the PS4 version, but downloaded it as part of the PlayStation collection when I got my PS5. Couldn’t believe some of the backlash it had received when it first came out as it just looked and played fantastically.

Ghost of Tsushima much the same, but that’s always been incredible.

Returnal is a great PS5 exclusive game and is very easy to pick up/put down with the tos and fros of family life.

Also, get Miles Morales if you didn’t already play it on PS4. Will be great with the kids and is pound for pound the best iteration of Spider-Man we’ve ever had in a game, albeit quite short

The way Sony treated Days Gone infuriated me.

The first wasn't ground breaking, however you can clearly see there is a good game there and that had they built on it Days Gone 2 could have been great.

All they had to do was iron out some in game issues and add a couple of things and it would have been ace, for example maybe making taking out hordes a little more diverse, or making it so you can build your own settlement.

Everything was there for a good game, and what did they do, scrap it so they could make yet another freaking Last of Us remake.

All I can think is that if Sony had been in charge of Rocester they wouldn't have made red dead redemption as they wouldn't have bothered after red dead revolver.

Huh?

Bend and Naughty Dog are completely different companies

Bend is currently working on a new IP

Not sure what your point is here my friend .........

I think it's because Bend pitched a sequel to Sony and they turned it down because of some of the criticism of the first game.

From what I understand, when it first launched on PS4, it was a buggy mess, with some people experiencing game-breaking issues.

As I only arrived at the party once the PS5 came out, the vast majority of those issues had been ironed out, so I just got to enjoy the game as it was.

As it happens, though, even on the PS5 version, in what I believe is the final or penultimate mission, there was an issue in which basically all of the graphics just disappeared, so Deacon was walking in thin air, unable to see obstacles, baddies, etc.

I had to play that (albeit, very small) section side-by-side with a YouTube video of the mission and essentially guess where the path and enemies were.

You are probably quite right Rooney - but it was just such a bad misinformed hot take from the fact that Days Gone was a broken buggy, overdue, and over-budget mess on release that took the best part of 6 months to basically make playable.

To others that you yourself misquoted and has since been confirmed by the EX producer which was Sony didn't turn down any pitch and was in fact an internal pitch and Sony had nothing to do with a cancelled sequel.

On top of that pitch rejection doesn't mean that the game will NEVER be made - and in fact, most companies will not make a sequel directly after the initial game, so people who believe that a sequel will never happen are overreacting as Bend are mid-project atm.

Also just found comparing Naughty Dog and Bend, and the fact that many larger studios have multiple teams doing several projects at the same time and what is wrong with a Last of Us remake - cos quite frankly this sounds amazing having the updated engine, ok I will not buy day 1, but certainly a purchase I will make with a good sale and considering where Sony are in regards to amazing IPs and sequels it just seems a very strange complaint that is full of misinformation and sensationalism and just something to complain about rather than a valid reason.

Do I think there will be a Days Gone sequel? Yes. Sony arent stupid and they would have seen how well the PC port done as well as the numbers on PS5. Just because a bad pitch was declined doesn't mean the game is cancelled, pitches within game studios happen on a weekly basis and only a handful ever get done.

I didn’t really look deeply into it, to be honest; I just recall a few headlines several months ago about a rejected pitch.

I also think a producer or someone fairly senior in the game’s development / marketing said “if you want a sequel, by the game on PC” or something to that effect.

I’d certainly buy a sequel - I think the functionality of the new generation would serve huge, open-world games like that brilliantly. Imagine the sheer size of the hordes you could render.

Re Last of Us Part 1, I have no qualms with them remaking it, but if you’re going to charge full price, I think you have to re-do the gameplay mechanics, as well as the graphics. From an albeit limited reel of gameplay footage, I’ve seen that the biggest criticism of that the gameplay mechanics look identical.

Looks phenomenal, though, and like you I will probably pick it up a little later when the price comes down.

Don't get me wrong Rooney the stories you spoke about were massively hyped, yet they forgot to hype the retraction afteronce the guy being interviewed (ex producer/director) who left Bend just after completion of the game basically lied about some big things (Days Gone had sold as much as Ghost, and that Sony had cancelled the sequel) in a podcast, the truth of the matter was he had used a trophy website to get his sales numbers and an internal pitch to Bend (nothing to do with Sony) higher ups was declined as it didn't fit what they wanted for the franchise and the pitch also took place as the game basically shat the bed as it was so broken on release. So as normal most media outlets loved the "Days Home sells as much as Ghost but Sony won't give them a sequel" headline better than the truth which is ex directors game did release well so he still peesed with Sony 3 years on and loves to bang his drum a bit. Unfortunately many people just latched onto the original story.
