Accrington Stanley v Bolton Wanderers

Derby Day and the first dry day in Accrington in nearly 3 years as 7th placed Bolton take on 17th placed Accrington at the wham stadium. Not an happy hunting ground going back to the 7-1 defeat in November 2019, followed by a 2-0 defeat less than a month later in the EFL trophy and a 1-0 defeat last December. Away has been an issue this season with just the one win at mk Dons and losing the last two away. Hopefully the whites can stop that rot and find a way to win away and maintain a play off push. Team news. Expect 7 fresh players Trafford, Santos, Johnston, Williams, Thomason, Afolayan and Charles all rested against Leeds u21s to return to the starting line up. Bradley is suspended so Isgrove is expected to make his first league start of the season. Sadlier will of course be on the bench. Kick off 3pm.

Thanks Benny
More head scratching after that. Remind me how did we turn it around and end up with 3 points!

Burton at home for a late one on Tuesday night. Pass the Pick 'n' Mix.

Didn't see either Accrington goal. Was ready to go but... Common sense subs. Why iredale didn't start goodness knows. Overthinking things way too much. Enjoyed that.

Will IE finally stop with the wrong pegs in wrong holes experimenting in league games?
I know it's like asking IE to sort out set pieces, crossing, corners and hitting the target.

I wonder how Burton will prepare for Tuesday night after watching our game. Was Accrington a new tactic to confuse our next opponents match preparations?

Evatt keeps saying that we aren't the finished article and that we will keep learning. He needs to apply that to his management strategy. At some time in the not-too-distant future, he will need to play a settled team.

Too many changes don't auger well for a team that wants promotion.

Way too much tinkering. Still scratching my head at the starting line up with 3 left backs in the squad and not starting any. Keep dapo out left and let him do his stuff. Could have Bradley on the right.

Can you imagine IE bouncing into work this Monday morning and announcing.
"Right lads I've got it. This is what we're going to do tomorrow against Burton."

It doesn't look as if he will.

This is the latest from Evatt.

Despite his experiment failing to produce positive results at Accrington, Evatt has not ruled out using the former West Ham man as a wing-back again in the future.

It beggars belief. Is the man incapable of learning anything?

You ought to see some the Airfix model planes IE built when he was little. A right mish mash of mixed wings and fuselage, bonded on to various hulls of sunken battleships.
Then there's the story of when he blew them up using fireworks in the bath one bonfire night.

He was later declined membership of the Lancs re-enactment society, after he made a right mess of the battle of Bolton. Allowing the Earl of Derby to escape down the flanks was never going to work was it.

Here we go again.
Another long day waiting and wandering, what and who is planned for tonight's encounter.

Don't let IE read this article in the BEN on our set piece problems.
