Derby County 5 - 0 Torquay Utd

DERBY COUNTY v TORQUAY UNITED, FA Cup 1st round replay

Pride Park Tuesday 15 Nov 1945

YAYYYY!! a home game in November but still a potential banana skin. Torquay make the long trip up for an autumnal fixture they could have avoided by not equalising. Just think, if that drunken Derby fan had not invaded the pitch than the ref would not have added the requisite time allowing time for the equaliser.

And this match thread would not exist

Team selection will be interesting or not. We're still stretched personal wise and I'd rather keep the powder dry for league games. We still have to win two more games to qualify for the privilege of playing a Championship side.....

On Saturday Fozzie stood out - again. I still think we are not getting the best out Otis - he always seems to run out of steady steam after 70 mins. A pleasing win which should give us confidence to go forward for our glamour tie with Newport County......

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Cashin, Bird (C), McGoldrick, Roberts, Thompson, Sibley, Dobbin, Stearman, Osula, Rooney

Subs:- Loach (GK), Oduroh, Smith, Forsyth, Hourihane, Mendez-Laing, Collins, Aghatise, Bardell

No, he only had the goalie to beat with no-one challenging him.

Wow 6 defenders between him and the goal and one bearing down, yeah simple.

And Desi not hard to see it was McGoldrick that laid it off.

I thought that Igor, it was the fact that he made a run from inside Derby's half, in a RB position that threw me a little.

What a ball from McGoldrick! ( in that case)

Fair play Desi 👍

I’m still annoyed Didzy didn’t get MOTM.

I am really impressed with Wildsmith, he has made a lot of good saves since he's been here, and kept us in the game in a few matches. I like him!

There's an argument to be made that Wildsmith is the signing of the season.

Like Allsop last season his signing was greeted with something between underwhelm and dismay. I thought Wildsmith looked dodgy in the pre-season friendly at Bradford but he has been superb since then. Catching, shot-stopping and distribution (bar the occasional mistake as happened on Tuesday but was unpunished) have all been excellent.

Is it the same GK coach that trained Allsop last season , coaching Wildsmith this season?

Absolutely not, Warne brings his team and he covers all bases.
So much so that if any of his trustees said no about going to Derby he’d have turned the job down.

And his play out from the back pass to Marriott.
Nearly had another heart attack.
