Bolton Wanderers v Plymouth Argyle

Matchday and it's top of the league Plymouth Argyle at the unibol. It was originally forest green at home today, it could have been an fa cup 3rd round tie but we don't get past the 1st round these days so as both sides are out of the cup the fixture between the 2 clubs on 25th March has been brought forward to today because of likely international call ups. Are we looking forward to it? Yes. Plymouth who I see as one year advanced of Bolton in progress will present formidable opposition. Bolton in 5th can go 4th with a win and within 9 points of 2nd. Another reason I'm looking forward to today , the home fixture last season I was stuck at home with COVID, a 2-0 defeat that day. Hope for better today. One negative. Been torrential rain overnight which is going to affect the pitch that looks like it has been struggling this season. Team news. Jack Iredale has joined George Thomason on the long term list. Dapo Afolayan sits out the 2nd of his 3 match ban. No news on joel Dixon. I presume he is fit as 3rd choice Luke Hutchinson has been loaned out to Bamber Bridge. Everyone else in the squad is available including new signing Randell Williams. The absence of Iredale presents a conundrum to manager Ian Evatt who is searching through his square pegs for a replacement. Williams probably won't start as he is brought up to speed, John and Beck are out of favour so right footed options Jones and Sadlier are being considered. Kick off 3pm.

We do like having a player sulking. Is it part of the IE way of managing behind the scenes.

Time to make some room.
If we can't sell high, recover a few bob and be done with a few players.
- Charles, pizza on Tues. If he doesn't finish one or two off. Stick a red reduced label on him.
- Santos and Dapo, where's that salesman's handbook. Ken last used it when selling Madine.
- John, leave him in carrier bag outside a faraway charity shop.
- Izzy, release him back into the wild.

Ruth from admin she'll have to go, we've got to be Ruthless.

I had a laugh at that little rant. And yes, we need to shed some of the squad and get that striker who really can do the job.

We are stuck in a time warp with the same problem on a recurring loop. The tale of missed chances.

We have a new face coming in on Monday but I doubt he will be the answer to our ills in front of the goal. If we are going to achieve promotion we need to spend some money on the right player.

I was being serious.
Remember "We've got to make money to spend it.

Not much time for practice today.
Just some gentle trotting, running and watching videos.
I bet the players tell a different story when they get home.

We do need to generate more cash but the gates have been good and we do expect some reasonable cash from dear old Pappa John. He's been selling a lot of Pizzas. You could perhaps add more supporters through the turnstiles if we were to sign a couple of decent strikers and we won more games as a result.

I know we will be limited but it's been obvious for some time that we need more firepower upfront.

Unless we can find a wonder loan signing as we had with Daniel Sturridge, we need to spend. If we get promoted it will be worth it and if we miss out the player/players would be there for the following season and beyond..

I see Evat is saying that he's looking for two more players and in my opinion, both have to be Strikers. If they aren't. he will have sold us short again.

Another keeper would be great but I reckon we can wait until the summer for a keeper unless we can get rid of Dixon in this window.

Trafford should be OK for the rest of the season, he's going nowhere until the end of the season.

If we win tomorrow night we will be in the semi-final of the Pizza Trophy and collecting more cash. If we win the trophy it could almost pay for a new striker.
