Jose Mourinho's return has been discussed on here before but I noticed that some Chelsea fans seem to be taking this more and more seriously of late, especially after our woeful form in the league.
Rory Jennings made a video on this yesterday saying that Mourinho needs to come back and to my surprise most of the thousands of comments on the vid seem to be in favour of it.

Do Chelsea fans really want a return of the cautious first approach football Jose is so known for ? I certainly don't. As much as I love the man and will always appreciate what he did here.
Personally I'm extremely sceptical of bringing back a manager who is clearly no longer at the peak of his powers and who fairly recently failed at Spurs and to a lesser extent at Utd before that.
Why do so many people think this now qualifies him as being the right man for this massive rebuild that lies ahead of us over the next few seasons ?

Having invested all this money in young players, the last man they’ll want to bring in to develop them is going to be Mourinho.

I'm very much inclined to agree. It seems the new owners want more of a company man type manager that will go along with whatever direction is required. Mourinho isn't that and after getting sent off yesterday for the third time this season he definitely hasn't mellowed either lol.

If we were to take any of our previous managers back I would like it to be Ancellotti not Mourinho. I also believe that the way the Club treated him before was disgraceful if they really did sack him in the tunnel after the last game of that season away as was widely reported.
Would he ever come back? Never say never, but I can't see it personally.
I'm still hoping that Potter might work out, but I am also still hoping to win the lottery numbers this week and that isn't gonna be happening either!!

Whether their strategy will be successful or not, it’s obvious that they’re hedging their bets on a few of these young lads becoming top players. So naturally they’ll want to appoint a manager that is suited to developing those kind of players. It’s not looking good for Potter being that man, but it would surprise me if they through the baby out of the bathwater and went for a man that is the antithesis of this.

So naturally they’ll want to appoint a manager that is suited to developing those kind of players. From the stuff I've read & opinions of people who'll know more than me about Boehly & Walter's ownership of the Dodgers, managers like Potter appear to be their MO anyway. Throw in the influence of people who've been through the Red Bull setup behind the scenes and yeah, managers like Mourinho don't fit the profile at all. Have a feeling we'll be going through a trend of hipsters for awhile.
Odd strategy to me which makes a similar mistake PSG do. Money equals pressure, so having a manager used to dealing with those pressures has to be on the agenda or you're asking for trouble in the long run. In Potter's case the very short run

The issue with it is that this model can work in American sport where it’s a closed shop. They can actually be far more considered in their strategies with regard to medium and long term building. It doesn’t have the jeopardy that football has, where a couple of poor seasons can all of a sudden set a longer term trend.

Yeah these owners aren't going to appoint a firecracker like Mourinho. They want a company man. But as you say whether they can find a manager who can deliver success while also going along with their vision remains to be seen. Potter only ticking one of the two necessary boxes so far.
