Barnsley v Bolton Wanderers

Friday night football and we now know the task. Win 2 cup ties and Bolton are back in the championship. A hard task away at oakwell, anything will do extra time and penalties to make it a 2nd trip to Wembley. Lose and the season is over. I'm sure there will be plenty ups and downs on the night. I can't think of much else to say really except hope the players go for it and no regrets. Team news. 2 unknown players injured added to Jones, mbete and isgrove, it's unknown if böðvarsson or iredale will be available. Nerves are kicking in, not helped by watching Sheffield Wednesday v Peterborough at the moment, going to be a long day tomorrow. Kick off 8pm.

Evatt is upbeat regarding the transfer kitty. I'm sure this season will be the season that we push the boat out quite a bit further than we have been able to do since Sharon and the board arrived.

They know they will clear the debts this season; there is extra money in the piggy bank, plus we have the Swiss consortium promising money, Tough Sheet's cash, and extra money from season ticket sales.

In addition, we have had extra games due to the play-off place with the TV money, money for winning the Pizza trophy again with TV money, and maybe we will have a windfall bonus from the Bonds sales after the cash for designated improvements has been put aside.

I'm being positive, the board know we need a better class of player and I believe that they will provide some reasonable cash to try to secure promotion.

They are already a year behind the three-year plan, and they will want to put that right this coming season.

SWIE, don't forget the housekeeping money.
We need a new pitch, Lostock grass and soil is in terrible condition and those Portacabins look a bit shabby these days and don't mention the bubble !
There's a long To Do list behind the scenes.

You'll remember from your younger days.
When a rise in your spends sent you running down to the shops, to see what more you could buy with your rise in income. Only to find the prices had risen, you could only afford to ask for your usual quarter of toffee and a Beano.

B team retained list sneaked under the radar https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2023/may/b-team-announce-retained-list/ more staying than I thought would. An end to Adam Seniors Bolton career. Hope he finds somewhere to continue his young career.

Some heavy betting going on with the B team retained and new contracts.
Keep an eye on the futures elsewhere of Matty Grivosti and Adam Senior.

Pasty, more money has been promised so I reckon we will be fine. I'm not expecting us to be the highest spenders in league one, but I think that if the computer geeks get everything right, we will compete in the league once again. Whether or not we get promoted is anyone's guess at this early juncture.

As for the pitch, it recovered well when all the rain stopped. The housekeeping money hasn't been too much of a problem, All problems were caused by the debts that FV were saddled with by the previous owner.

As for the bubble wasn't that paid for by the supporter's club? Perhaps they might buy a new one. However, if it wasn't covered by the club's insurance, why not?

When all you have is a penny to spend at the shop, a penny arrow bar was still a penny, you just got a bit less for your money.

Let's have some positivity.

Bond now at £3.5m. In under 8 days.

We've now got the chance to make the infrastructure and team improvements we'll need to make the next step up without having to scrimp on other areas.

As for pitch chat. Was getting changed anyway as the artificial weave in place was at the end of it's shelf life.

Don't forget our magic word - Sustainable

Slowly slowly, there's no rush so long as we make steady progress, without breaking the bank.

I'll make some notes for my summer chat with Sharon.
Mind you the way things are going here this year; I might have to make it a preseason chat.

There is no reason that we can't be sustainable and spend some money on improving the team.

As we finished in fifth place in the league and won a trophy, steady progress for the coming season would be no less than promotion and to get there we need to spend some cash.

You know that is the bottom line and it can be done without breaking the bank..
