PSVR2 outselling original PSVR

Title says it all. Sony have announced sales just shy of 600,000 for the PSVR2 in the first six weeks of sales. PSVR was around the 500,000 mark.

PSVR2 is now available in retail stores and I'll be interested to see if tonights Playstation showcase has some PSVR2 gaming news.

Nah, I don't agree with that whodunnit. There are experiences in VR that you can't get with flat games, and there are many people like me enjoying what VR has to offer. Of course these are still early days and the tech will only keep getting better. VR will compliment flat gaming and carve out it's own slice of the gaming pie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
what dont you agree with?

I cant see anything I said that was incorrect?

Its fun - yeah - yeah it is fun
its more immersive - yeah it is
does the feeling last , no - the feedback suggest im correct people are using the VR headsets less over time. I know 4 people that own one, none of them regularly use it and maybe put it on now for guests or just something a little different.

Does the gameplay and complexity of a game get affected by being VR focused , yes it does 100% it cant be argued.

It doesnt get used in any hint of a competitive aspect be that playing casually at home or anywhere else, you are at a disadvantage using it.

what dont you agree with there?

Does the feeling last? For many it does. There are may people very enthusiastic about VR, and the improving technology. I meet up regularly online with people, who love VR.

and for most it doesnt.

I didnt say there arent many people enthusiastic about it ??

I dont dispute you dont meet up regularly again I didnt say you dont.

Of course there are people who love VR again I never said there wasnt.

All my points are valid.

anyone competitive wont bother with it as they are at a disadvantage.

People use it far less than traditional playing of games.

My experience (and one that seems pretty universal and Im sure I could prob dig out a stat to back it up) is that people that got them originally dont use them much anymore, on special occasions or when they have guests come round they crack it out.

But for 95% of their gaming time its spent not using it.

the buzz you get from playing VR now is not the same as it was when you just started.

that and my fishing buddy owns a VR gaming shop so I can get a far better experience whenever I want !!

full hydraulic racing rigs, wind, headset etc its amazing fun, it really is. It would still get dropped in a heartbeat as soon as i became competitive.

And for most it doesn't. Like I said I disagree.

VR is still in it's infancy. Flat gaming has had decades to develop. But there is plenty to enjoy in VR, and it does offer a whole new gaming experience.

A game done properly in VR grabs peoples attention. But there is nowhere near the same sort of developer investment being made in VR as flat gaming. But as VR tech grows and gets more affordable, So will it's potential. VR has a very solid following, it just hasn't reached mass adoption.

what are you basing that disagreement on?

You think that people play the PSVR they bought a year or 2 ago just as much or more now than they did before?

From my experience thats a massive no, its not even up for debate.

you keep adding points to an argument were not having ....

I didnt say there isnt a whole lot to enjoy about VR ofcourse there is.

I havent even hinted at saying it cant grab peoples attention?

Im saying people dont use them as much as they used to, and if your a competitive player you are at a disadvantage using it?

your just arguing for arguments sake now and creating points that Im not arguing against.

If you can prove any of the things Im saying are incorrect I will apologise and admit im wrong.

I'm saying there is a growing and thriving VR community. As I said earlier VR has plenty of room to grow, but it will grow as tech improves and becomes more affordable.

I don't deny flat gaming dominates. But if all flat gaming had to offer was 80's style graphics, compared to a modern VR headset. Then the VR headset would be dominating.

There is plenty to enjoy in VR, and that will only grow as the tech does.

Ok thanks for that and dismissing all the points I raised.

You again just keep bringing up point to argue that no one is bringing up.

and you continue to avoid the actual points.

VR in enjoyable, no on said it wasnt.

you disagreed about a couple of points and refuse to actually explain why or provide any sorta proof and just ignore the questions put to you.

Ok lets just agree to disagree. and leave it at that.

I'm on the cusp of buying a psvr2, I just csnt seem to give myself rhe gentle nudge over the edge to just go for it

My only vr headset I owned was some freebie jobby ingot with my Samsung phone a few years back where you'd insert your phone and that acts as the headset.

I personally loved that, I enjoyed streaming the footie and films as well as national geographic for exploring all over the world, but I wasn't overly keen on the games

Having said that, the games on the PSVR2 look decent, but I am worried about something whodunit mentioned that the novelty of the games will wear off and I will be left with a very expensive bit of plastic sitting in my corner

I'm undecided whether or not to wait until meta quest 3 comes out later in the year, or go for PSVR2 which is only limited to games

Or go for both... I dunno!

Number 8. I too started with a simple phone jobby. It intrigued me enough to want more. So when PSVR1 came out I was all in. It was decent enough, but had many flaws, such as tracking and wiring etc. Happily all this has been fixed with PSVR2.

As for what you should buy it really is up to you and what you enjoy. You can watch films in PSVR2, but one of the things I loved about the cheap phone I played was being able to sit in a virtual theatre. I still remember falling over trying to lean on the seat in front of me.

I'm enjoying VR enough to consider buying the quest 3 also. Ironically I was literally about to watch a youtube video on it when I saw your post.

One thing I'll say is a modern headset is a world away from a phone. You have controllers for a start, you can also lean in closer to get a better look at objects, and of course the resolution and graphics are much better.

I was going to post a few reviews about some games I have been enjoying. I have just started playing Beat sabre, which is surprisingly addictive. I bought it for the kids, but I'm enjoying it too.

Sounds like you are not far from seeing what modern VR has to offer, and this is still just the beginning.
