2 times world cup winners and probably everyone's 2nd best team fail to qualify for the world cup later this year. With defeats to Scotland and Netherlands this has to be an all time low.
I grew up on Lara, Ambrose, Walsh, Richardson and Sir Viv and to see the demise is very sad.
What could be the reason for this? I know there are players who would rather play IPL than the West Indies has had an impact. Obviously football and Basketball sports are on the rise but a world cup without the West Indies is a sad day for the sport.

It appeared to start quite a few years ago with political infighting that tore the team apart. Shame. Used to be great to watch a happy team.

At the end of the day, whilst entertaining for us and them, cricket and other sports are their livelihoods. They have a limited timeframe to make hay and whilst not underpaid, it certainly doesn't set them up for life. If plying franchise cricket does that, you can't blame them.

I only got into cricket during West Indies' fall from the top of cricket, but they are these days what Blackburn are to football.
