But Australia do cheat. It's not that long since the sandpaper scandal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn't Engkand pkayers cheat by pulling their spikes across the ball a couple of years back?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Moot point. That would just mean both teams cheat. Not that Australia don’t

You could argue when Stokes won the world cup and deflected the ball for an additional 4 with his bat when diving to stop a run out was not in the spirit of the game.

Spirit of game doesn't look at intentionality. I've seen it in cricket when there is a accidental deflection the players call it a dead ball but not when its the world cup final and England are desperate for the runs.

I was thinking about that very same incident when I saw Ben Chokes’ post game interview saying he would have retracted the appeal.

Why didn’t England give back those 4 runs?

Also if Chokes cares so much about the integrity of the game, why didn’t he walk when Lyon had him plumb LBW at Headingly and Aus had no reviews left?

It’s a shame we lost the game and this series is now over, but one good thing about it was seeing Chokes fail and cry.

Although said with a lot of hostility and whataboutery, I actually agree about the spirit of the game discussion. Personally I don't think it really exists and it is something that is brought up on major incidents that we don't like. There are many examples that happen in every game where honesty and integrity go out the window.

We have umpires to uphold the rules/laws of cricket and if something is within the rules/laws of cricket then I'm not sure how it can be against the spirit of it otherwise you'd change the rule/law.

As I've said on another thread, players do all sorts including sledging, not walking, claiming catches which have been grounded, trying different strategies to deter an umpire in giving them out LBW, slow over rates etc. None of that feels within the spirit of cricket to me.

Also Ben Chokes, the guy comes into his own in critical moments of games more so than most. Literally the opposite of a choker.

All India is behind Aussie team

-------------

thats a rather sweeping statement to make

defo not cheating tho, Aussies seem to have an edge when it comes to the dark arts (nothing wrong it at all) - its in the Aussie cricket culture and is why they're always such a great cricketing team.

however, do feel a little sorry for Bairstow, because whilst Aussies are totally entitled to try their luck, the umpires really should of stood up here. its quite clear Bairstow tapped in with his foot (that scrape).

It does add to the atmosphere though, be a great series yet if we can win the third test.

As for Choosh, urgh, been on here years proper hater of English cricket, its very weird. talks about crying I remember his reaction to England winning the world cup utter comdey gold
