He’s been absolutely dreadful this series and a major part in Australia retaining the Ashes which they surely will. He’s made more headlines than runs or catches, absolutely pathetic mentality - his head was gone from the first game

Crawley is having an alright series but he's still only averaging 32.7. He has shown glimpses of providing more consistency at the top of the order as I'd rather he more regularly got 30s rather than a bigger score and then a series of failures. How he's done this series reminds me of Roy getting us off to good starts in ODIs before it clicked and he started to kick on more often.

I mean in general they've backed Crawley for what they think he can do so they're going to give Bairstow a similar amount of backing based on what he can do. And given his performances with the bat last year, it's fair enough. I'd still prefer to see him in as a batter only though. Like we all would.
