News coming out tonight that Mbappe has turned down Al-Hilal's incredible $776m 1-year contract.
I have to admit, we all know athletes have a rep as being unintelligent, but this takes the cake as far as dumb things an athlete has done.
Imagine turning down over 3 quarters of a billion dollars, tax-free, for one season, just to stay in Europe for an extra year. Most likely just to rot in PSG's reserves
He could have gone to the Pro League for a season, made history with his contract, accumulated multi-generational wealth and then come back to Real if he really wanted to in a year, when he'd still only be 25.
This guy will regret this decision for the rest of his life.

It doesn't suggest he's stupid. It suggests a man who is already unimaginably rich and who is set to grow much richer still whatever he does next has prioritised his career (and profile) over short-term earnings.
I've known plenty of people who have chosen job opportunities that develop their skills and achievements over ones that pay more, and I don't remember any of them regretting it. Some have ended up earning more that way too - as Mbappe might.

Can't imagine he will
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't imagine he'll fumble the bag or can't imagine he'll regret fumbling it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That he'll regret it. He's already on astronomical wages, will get a 90m loyalty bonus if he stays at PSG and a huge bonus when signing with Madrid too. At a certain point the money won't bother him, as they're just numbers on a page
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'll pay 45% marginal rate tax in France and 47% if he ever goes to Spain.
There's no personal income tax in Saudi Arabia, so effectively you can think of the Saudi contract as almost $1.5bn for 1 year to make it like-for-like.
Yes he'll always be rich but there's rich and there's multi-generational wealth. It's not just numbers on a page.

That makes zero sense

Imagine being stupid enough to equate money with intelligence. If anything turning it down is the clever thing to do

OP must be gabby agbonlahor. He was defending the likes of Neves for going to Saudi on crazy money by saying that there were PL players at risk of going bankrupt.

What doesn’t make sense about it?
If one doesn’t tax you at all and another taxes almost half your income away, of course you have to take that into account
$776m take-home pay is almost $1.5bn gross if you’re paying high marginal rates of tax.
