Leaked XI vs Arsenal (not the match thread)

Onana, AWB, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno, Antony, Rashford, Martial.

Familiar feel for the midfield and attack from last year, but looks likely Eriksen will be chasing shadows and we’ll be walked through far too easily.

I wonder who always leaks out side too, seems to happen quite often now, as it did under Ole.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maguire
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Has to be a Brit or well established foreigner who has a friend in the press. Maguire makes sense, rumours were also Shaw under Ole.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, this starting 11 picks itself from the available options. If I'd had to have guessed the starting 11 it would have been exactly this one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No Hjojlund?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No. He's had zero preseason and never played in the PL + coming back from injury. Very unlikely to be thrown straight in away from home at Arsenal when Martial is fit to play.

Common sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Martial fit to play and common sense 😄😄😄
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really should be playing Sancho as a false 9 over that waster. I read a stat the other day that it's 3 years since Martial won possession back. THREE YEARS!!! I know he's not a defender but it just sums up how effortless he is during his fleeting periods of not being injured
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Aren't there rumours that Sancho is out too though?

Apparently the last time Martial played a full 90 mins in the PL.

His contract is due at the end of the season isn't it?

Glazers will probably order it to be renewed knowing them. 😂

He starts anyway. Rumour was BS

That stat is blatantly bullshiiiit. I’ve seen Martial win possession in the last three years. Weirdly, we don’t actually press as well when he is out of the side. He’s not grate at winning the ball, and lacks the ability to press with intensity, but he’s far more intelligent with his movements to block passing lanes than most of our forwards. It was similar with Mata, who had similar issues. Being a headless chicken doesn’t make someone good at pressing. It’s why we struggle with Rashford up front as he’s shiiiit at it.

I'd have started McTom over Eriksen.

lot of work for Casemiro today, up against Odegaard and Rice.

Mctominay isn't even on bench. Must be carrying a knock.

This.

People seem to think pressing is simply running about closing people down, which in fact is entirely counterproductive.

Aye. We break away from presses too when he plays. His proneness to injury remains a real problem with him not being an important player to us.
